Re: 6 months in thith damn retainer......REALLY?!....6 MONTH

So I'm back and happy to say that I have noticed any relapse in the four or so hours that I had it out. I will say that I cannot freaking wait to not have to wear it during the day. Felt amazing, my friends...

Re: 6 months in thith damn retainer......REALLY?!....6 MONTH

Quick question (I'll stop with the lisp silliness now lol). I'm going out with the girlfriend's family for a few hours tomorrow. If I leave the retainer out just for the that amount of time, there won't start being any relapse right? Again i've had it for only about 5 days now. Yeah I understand th...

Re: 6 months in thith damn retainer......REALLY?!....6 MONTH

That's what i've been thinking since watching http://www.myretainer.com/SeeHow.html I just keep wondering why they can't make it thinner? I mean I remember my dad had those coke bottle glasses when I was younger, then all of a sudden they were able to make them crazy thin. Maybe some one needs to g...

Re: 6 months in thith damn retainer......REALLY?!....6 MONTH

LMAO! At first I was like, this guy doesn't know how to type...then the more i read, i started to laugh. I think you just have to treat it like braces. You didn't get used to them over night, and the retainer is going to be the same issue. At least it's good for a laugh, right? My husband thought t...

Re: Hawley or Essix retainer? I can't decide...

Interesting about the bite issue. I hadn't considered that. Thanks for dropping that info on me. But a month to get used to speaking normal?! Dang! FWIW, I already have a bonded retainer on my bottom, and that's all I use. Will only having a hawley on top make it A LITTLE easier with whole speech th...

Re: Hawley or Essix retainer? I can't decide...

Thanks for the responses.

How long, and please be absolutely truthful, does it really take for one to be accustomed to the hawley and able to speak normal again? 2 days? A week? 3 weeks? I understand that everyone is different, but I imagine there is probably a general time frame, no?

Re: Hawley or Essix retainer? I can't decide...

I have a hawley on my bottom and both for top. I like the hawley lots better then the essix. THe ortho said I could wear the essix during the day and Hawley at night, but I usually only wear the hawley because I like it so much better. It is a bit more of a challenge to talk with the hawley, but th...

Hawley or Essix retainer? I can't decide...

I have to let my ortho know in a few days when he makes and sends out the impression. I already got the bottom teeth set with a bonded retainer, so this is only for the top (which he won't use a bonded for). He told me that he is more inclined to use the traditional hawley simply due to the fact tha...

Re: Retainers question

I think I read somewhere that it doesn't offer the same type of retentive qualities as a removable , so if I were to ever take it out, I'd have to get a removable retainer for that arch, even if I'd been wearing the bonded one for a while. I could be wrong on that, but that's what I recall. I actua...
