Re: It's Crunch Time - Do I or Don't I, Please HELP!!
I did jaw surgery for purely cosmetic reasons, and I am happy with the results. There are some potential functional benefits that could end up being important, but my main motivation was cosmetic. I didn't have unrealistic expectations about what I would look like after - I didn't think I would sudd...

Re: Long term breathing problems after surgery/intubation?
I thought I posted a reply to you, but I don't see it now. Sorry to hear what you're going through. I also have breathing problems post-op, mostly severe congestion at night. Every morning I wake up and blow all kinds of stuff out of my nose, and then I feel normal for the rest of the day. It is dis...

Re: Loose skin around nasiolabial folds due to maxilla impac
I had a 5mm impaction and I do believe that there is a bit of extra skin around my mouth now. I think that maybe it could be making my face appear a tiny bit older, but I'm not even sure. Either way, the benefits from this surgery outweigh that little side effect. My mouth area may look a tiny bit o...

Well, I'm a wimp, but I would say that the first 24 hours were about a 9.9. After I got the NG tube out, and the nasal trumpets out, and the catheter torture over, things improved to an 8. As soon as I got home at 48 hours post-op and got hydrated and drank some Ensure, I made it to a 7. The next co...

I am 9 months post op and not back to normal. I feel OK, but I have issues with sleeping (dry mouth), congestion, and a decent amount of numbness and stiffness. I am not enjoying these things, but I feel that my problems are a small price to pay for what the surgery did for me. Good luck with the re...

I was totally clogged for weeks. In the hospital and the first week were the worst and they kept me an extra night, b/c when I would fall asleep, with my mouth swollen shut, and my nose blocked 100%, I was essentially suffocating. They removed my bands so that I could breathe through my mouth. Every...

Thanks so much for starting this thread! I am SO THERE right now. I'm 5 months post-op, and I have 4 really sensitive teeth - so bad I can't brush really well. My oral surgeon sent me to the dentist, who had no idea. He gave me some gel and I've been using it, but not much has changed. Yesterday, I ...
