I had turbos for 3 months and the lisp does eventually minimize to the point people don't notice. Took maybe a couple weeks for me to get used to talking and maybe another week or two before I really figured out how to eat.. hang in there, they're no fun at all but hopefully things will move quickly...

Hi mikesmile! I've reappeared briefly out of the void and noticed you'd posted an update today, so I had a zoom through - a huge congrats! Your new hardware looks fantastic and it sounds like things are on the move which is great! I can't believe how quickly things change, hey?? Re food, I think you...

I've been absolutely rotten at keeping up with the site :( I have, however, discovered something that is a definite cure for tooth-obsession.. namely getting a puppy right at the start of busy season for work.. GAH!! The last thing on my mind is my teeth right now, and I've barely got time these day...

Hi petitcanard How often do you go for adjustments? I see your ticker says 15 days until first adjustment but it says you have had braces for 2 months. BTW I go every 4 weeks. Hi Boohill! Yes, you're reading my ticker correctly.. it's close to 3 months from brace day to 1st adjustment!! I thought t...

Welcome to the club!! :D The first couple weeks were the most difficult for me, just trying to re-learn how to eat, dealing with some soreness and rubbing, and in generl just trying to get used to the new hardware!! I'm sure you'll get used to them quickly, and re tightness, my bottoms were so tight...

I use mine right after I eat, to clean out all the food stuck under and around my braces. It feels so good!! I still floss every night and brush after meals, but I had found brushing alone after meals didn't get all the food out (especially because I have some brackets that are tight against each ot...

Hang in there!! I lived off of frozen curries for the first week or so - the chicken is tender and I cut it up really really small, and the rice & veggies are nice & squishy, so they were perfect. It can go down with just some mushing about with your tongue, worst-case scenario LOL. So I rec...

Thanks so much mikesmile!!! The bottoms were fun to watch because they moved very quickly and it was noticeable. My husband keeps saying he notices the change on top, but other than space being created - which I noticed mostly when flossing - I didn't think much had changed, so we took pics today an...

Just got braced a couple months ago at 37, after putting it off for years - for no other reason than I was chicken haha. Best decision I ever made, and I'm hoping to have straight teeth before I turn 40!

Trish and mikesmile , thanks so much for stopping by! :D It's been 2 months now, time flies and I've been rotten about keeping up with posts over the last month and a bit. Life goes on, even with braces - who knew? LOL. But late Nov & Dec were crazy busy with travelling for work, and my husband...

What a wonderful and inspiring post!! :D Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts - I'm thinking and feeling much the same!! Although I do have to say I smile more with braces - I've always been embarrassed about my teeth and figure the braces "hide" them (LOL!), and the pink ligs make me ...

I'm a 37 yr old female and have hated my teeth since my baby teeth fell out :). After putting it off for years, I took the plunge and was braced a couple months ago. I feel it's the best decision I've ever made! Good luck with your decision!
