Re: Disappointing debanding after almost 3 years in braces

Hi Flaka, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't satisfied with the end result. I'm afraid I will be able to relate next month. My braces are coming off in January after 2 1/2 years with them and a lower jaw surgery that resulted in less than optimal results. I am not happy with my front teeth at all. My...

Re:

i think you all need to relax. i don't mean to be cruel or anything but orthognathic surgery isn't really that big of a deal. i think you're all hyping it up to mean a lot more than it really does. In my opinion, Orthognathic surgery is a very big deal physically & psychologically. There is no ...

Re:

24braceface, This is a very common feeling. I hated it - In fact I still do. Even though I'm probably a month from being debanded I still at times feel "pissed off" that I had to go through all of this. My advice to you is: 1) Stay a part of this message board - It helped me GREATLY, and ...

Re: TMJ Symptoms Pre & Post Op

I'd like to give my experience since I was one of the ones with a not-so-average recovery. 1. My TMJ symptoms and pain level was probably a 2 pre-op (well, a 2 before braces and maybe a 3 with the braces on). I didn't have much clicking and popping. 2. During the first few weeks of recovery, I was l...

Re: feeling really fed up with my progress

My treatment feels like a joke at this point. I'm 9 months post-op and still have atleast a year in braces. Like you, it's the same ole at each appointment. I feel like he's *trying* stuff, and then forgetting what he tried and trying it again...making no progress. I've never had two wires on at the...

I had a jaw shift post-op. It isn't the bone itself, but rather the ligaments, tendons, muscles and all that good stuff "settled" in an unfavorable position once everything calmed down and had some freedom to move. The result = a canted jaw and a slight open bite on one side. My orthodonti...

When my muscles finally stopped spasming months after surgery, everything settled in an unfavorable position, causing problems my ortho now has to attempt to correct with braces alone. Another surgery is a no-go with me!

I had braces for 15 months prior to surgery. It's been 9 months since my surgery and I still have another year to go.

Appointment didn't go as I'd hoped. He decided not to move foward with the adjustments he wrote down during our consultation last week. He looked in my mouth for a while and said "something just isn't right here." Not what you want to hear! And I got the impression that he doesn't quite ha...

I felt better last week when my orthodontist told me that nothing "happened" per se to cause this other than my muscles & joints settling in an unfavorable position causing the canted jaw. However, since meeting with him I received a message from a girl here that also developed a cante...

What causes canted lower incisal plane during treatment?

First, what is the difference between an incisal cant and an occlusal cant? I've come to realize that there is a big difference between the two in terms of treatment. Second, what causes a canted lower incisal plane to occur during orthodontic treatment? I initially felt that what my orthodontist to...

It's noticeable right now because my jaw is slanted. My orthodontist doesn't think it will bother me once everything is straight and in line but I guess we'll see. :)

My clear brackets looked dirty until I was able to brush after my jaw surgery but it brushed right off/out. I have self-ligating brackets.
