My whole life dentists told my parents that I did not have an adult canine, so that sometime in my adulthood my babytooth would probably need to be replaced with an implant. I am 25, and last year, my babytooth became sensitive so I went to the dentist and they did an xray and saw I have an impacte...

I have been fortunate as my tooth is chugging right along, but I've been warned that movement can stop and I can start breaking chains if it is being stubborn....and I've been told I would have to pay for another surgery...so it can't be that unusual. Good luck..I hope that stubborn tooth starts mov...

I had the surgery Monday to extract the baby tooth and expose the impacted canine, which is in my upper palate. Good news, it wasn't fused to the bone and per the oral surgeon, looks "good to move". Only time will tell.

Don't assume braces are to straighten my teeth....usually followed with the statement "that's alot of money for straight teeth". Exactly. Even if that is why I got them, I'm not making comment how you spend YOUR money now am I.....?

Me too!

I too am 40 with an impacted canine. I am trying to be positive about the tooth moving into place. It is costing a small fortune ($600 without gas $900 with) so it had better work!

My surgery is scheduled for December 21 and truth be told...I'm petrified!!

I got my braces a week before classes started.......I'll let you finish the rest of this story. Poor students finally started sitting in the first row agai...

My boyfriend has been very supportive and thinks I'm too shy about them! The only thing he says he doesn't like about them is that I don't smile as big as I used to! Wait till they come off honey...I'm sure I will be an ear-to-ear grinning fool! But really, he says they are "cute". I call ...

Exact same problem and only between my two front teeth. I went to have my teeth cleaned and there was "something stuck" in my gums. I am fastidious about flossing and water pic, but I think some of us are just more predisposed to this than others. Mine was SO swollen, but much much better ...

After my braces are off I fully intend to hop over to Canada to get whitening, etc. About 30% less than here.

I just had my first cleaning Thursday and my gums have changed drastically since getting braces. She found ALOT of buildup under the gums behind the teeth that have done the most moving (also the gums that were looking swollen) so I started using Peroxyl and the results were almost immediate!

I like the idea of patient testimonies. I know I had some flickering days of regret and uncertainty. It's not fun and games for adults! Reassurance from former (and current) patients is an awesome idea!

I think the one thing I was not prepared for was that my teeth would get loose! Was a wee bit frightening but I did some research on my own and it became very apparent WHY they were loose! They are being moved after all.....

One very good thing about braces...they have definately curbed my fast food habit because I can't bite into anything! Really...can't eat a burrito from Taco Bell with a knife and fork in the car! haha!

I think the first thing I'm doing when I'm out of braces is eat a sandwich!
