Hiii :) I had a TPA put in a few months ago, in August. I was told it would be in for 6 months, so I prepared myself for getting it off after my birthday. I was so happy when at my last adjustment in December my ortho decided to take it out! Honestly, it's fine. I read so much stuff before I got it ...

Aww cheer up babe! :) Things will definitely get better! I got mine last tuesday, so its been about a week and a half now. I found it hard to eat at first, but gradually it does get better! Right now I'm eating pretty much similar stuff to like I did before, and you know the best part? My teeth are...

The day after extractions... my dimples are gone!
Okay, so I had my upper two first bicuspids removed by my dentist. I haven't got any infection and they seem to be healing up nicely. However, my only concern is that my face may still be slightly swollen. Before they were removed, I had very deep dimples in both cheeks, and now, when I smile, I onl...

Preparing myself for extractions tomorrow... :(
And i'm not looking forward to it. :( I've already had my spacers in, then molar bands, and then my TPA (which is not as bad as I thought!) But tomorrow morning I have the joys of my 2 upper bicuspids to be removed. :( I've had baby teeth removed before, and dealt reasonably well, but I'm getting wo...

Getting braces on VERY soon! :D
I'm finally getting closer! XD It will be 2 years after my dentist referred me to the orthodontist when I actually get braces on both top and bottom teeth. And I actually can't wait. The quicker they are on, the quicker I get them off, right? : ) I've already had the seperators put in, and the brack...

I'm getting them in *hopefully* a few weeks, right after I have my top two first bicuspids pulled out for the overcrowding I have!
I'm a 15 year old teenager, and a fair few people have them in my age group, but it seems that most high school teenagers have them at a younger age - more like 12 or 13!

No nance button, but I have lingual braces (stuck on the inside of my top teeth) and some people find it hard to speak with them too. I think it's really vairable, but you do tend to hear more about the people who are having a hard time. I know I tend to post if I am either worried about something ...

I had a Pendulum Appliance installed for about 6 months. It is pretty similar to a Nance, but moves the upper molars back (alternative for headgear). The influence on speaking seems to be individual (see my post about the Pendulum in this forum), some have major problems, others like me did not hav...

Cheer up Soph! I can't offer any info about the nance...no experience. But I was concerned about the speech thing too, because my job requires a LOT of public speaking. I find that at each stage of the process (initial uppers, then the bite plate, now no more bite plate but lowers are in) I have ha...

Worried About Getting A Nance Button
Hi, i'm a 15 year old in England who is looking forward to having braces and beautiful teeth! : ) I've had overcrowding on my top set of teeth since having adult teeth grow in, mainly because my jaw is too small to fit them all. I am fairly late getting treatment for my age on the NHS, because my mi...
