Clipped archwire
I tried to search the boards to see if someone had already posted/commented on this topic, but I didn't find much. Archwire is a very popular word here. Has anyone had their archwire cut short? Today at my appointment they clipped the bottom on at the right canine. I'm pretty far along treatme...

haha, I fantasize about my first good deep cleaning after braces. mmmmm I'm pretty sure they'll be telling me the same thing. When I had the top brackets and wire off for a while, I noticed that my gums hurt a bit, and brushing them (the inbetween spots are nearly impossible to reach with a wire) wa...

Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen. Unless you have stomach issues, this is a must. It really takes the edge off of adjustments. I try to take two before I go in, then two later in the day. The brackets will be irritating for the first week, but after that you won't really notice them. They will give y...

It's funny this topic should rise up the boards. Just last night I did a Google on patience. It brought up an article detailing studies done on monkeys. They found that the primates who eat things like tree sap were much more likely to wait it out for a greater reward than take smaller immediate rew...

Elastics and Retainers
I have two questions. The first one is about elastics. Ok, I know how braces work, and I have a pretty good idea about how elastics work, but how do the results stay? I feel like once the elastics are taken off my bite will return to it's previous state. I'm sure it won't, and it's nothing to worry ...

Stir Crazy
Ok, I'm over my pout, and I have shame for needing a whambulance. Ok that's a lie, I have no shame. Still ladies and gentlemen!!!1 The fact remains that bands, and I imagine being wired shut is complete crap. It's crap! Maybe at this next appointment he'll take some x-rays, or check my stitches, or ...

Second appointment exactly the same as the first. He says three weeks tightly banded shut now , then two bands on the sides for three weeks. It went from one week banded shut-one week in elastics to this. If I would have known I wouldn't be able to talk or eat for this long I would have never agreed...

I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm 20 as well (21 in three months), and in college. I actually feel like the dork that I am. It sucks. It sucks A LOT some times. Over all though I have to say that it has sucked so much more in my head than in reality. People for the most part just don't ...

HA HAAA! I have found my people ::Moses hands::. I knew I wasn't crazy (this time). I just have a single long band from hell wrapped all round everything. It actually snapped (SCORE!), but there are some tight loops holding the broken ends in place . Is vinegar bad for rubber integrity? Just a...

Actually it can be reversed. But no seriously, it's just pre-surgery jitters. I can't say in all certainty that you will love the results 100%, but I am very sure that you will notice an improvement aesthetically as well as functionally. This is a minor risk worth taking. I guess it can be re...

Hey, I'm 8 days post op. When I went in I thought not being able to smoke would really grind me, but the pain meds they gave me pretty much lulled me to point where I didn't care. FF to today, the pain meds are done and when I went in today to have the band removed he denied me and pushed me back a ...
