My gums are still numb on the top and I noticed today the left side roof of my mouth is numb but the right side is coming back. I'm doing nothing special. I do take F...

I had my first ortho appt! I was so nervous and I took an Ibuprofen beforehand just in case they tug too hard! It wasn't bad at all. She was really gentle. I'm back in ligs and have elastics now. They took off the thick wire that was on with my splint...that thing looked like a bracelet!! It was so...

Re: Open Bite Jaw Surgery...Other Options?
I am 30ish and I just had surgery to correct an open bite. I sucked my thumb well into my teens and I had vampire fangs. My OS told me about TAD's and I even spoke to someone who had them. I decided against them because I want a sure result. I don't want to go through this again. I had a Lefort I 2-...

Re: How long did you take off work for recovery?
I took the longest of anyone!! I'm out of work for 8 weeks! I work at an outpatient dialysis clinic and I'm usually there 11-12 hrs a day. I only get two 30 min breaks and we are not an all ambulatory clinic. They didn't want me to lift more than 20 lbs and wanted me to take a break if I became tir...

Re: Please Help!!...Trouble breathing after surgery (nasal)
I know what you mean! Did they give you a some solution..like a hydrogen peroxide mix? When I was in the hospital, they mixed peroxide and water and told me to clean out my nose with q-tips. I'm also using a nasal spray, Afrin. Try the peroxide mix, sounds like you have dried blood in there. Some, (...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
okay. Day three. Still swollen as hell. My bottom lip is so un-naturally huge it looks like a cartoon. I am drinking ensures now, very tasty. And have made an attempt to rinse my mouth out with salt water and some prescription rinse. This is really hard as I can't make the swooshing motion in my mou...

Re: having surgery again in april
what are the bone grafts usually done for they are to fill in gaps from the movement of your upper jaw. I was supposed to have them but he said he wouldn't know for sure until he was in there and could see if there would be a gap. I didn't need it though. Bones have to be really close so the osteob...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
dtdtdt, Thanks!! You're right..we're only 4 hrs away! Man, I feel so much better after I was over that 4th-5th day peak! I felt pretty bad. What I think was going on was I'm allergic to Amoxicillan. Who knew?! And by the time my swelling peaked and the Amox was in my system, I couldn't tell what was...

Re: Post Surgery nasal congestion
I just had surgery on the 16th and I was amazed I could breathe out of my nose...well..one nostril! And I'm pretty sure that one had the breathing tube in it! Now the other one, a different story. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. Right after they put me in a room, the Dr.s came in and started cle...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
Smithie and Aries and anyone else with a pov: :) Are you numb? My entire lower face is numb, such that I can't feel when i have food on it or when the spoon is going in, etc. How long will this last? Truly beside the ugly swelling this is worst thing I feel. I think otherwise I am going to be ok! I...
