WORST: when you break the skin in your mouth and a wire or bracket continually rubs it - not only does it hurt but it really annoys the sht out of me!

BEST: getting straight teeth, der :D

Sounds like lots of peoples orthos are good looking! Mine's a female and she has fantasic teeth. All the assistants and receptionists have great teeth too. I think it would be really offputting if they didnt have nice teeth. Its like a plastic surgeon having a crooked nose... :D

1. narrow upper jaw, some crowding, mouth breather

2. 80% aesthetics, 20% functionality

3. Probably

4. No, almost 100% was covered under private health and Medicare (Australian public health system) for surgery, but braces I have to pay about 80% of the total cost.

I got my braces on 6 weeks after I stopped turning so I still had my expander in for another 5 months after the braces were on. My gap started to close up immediately after I stopped turning which was a relief as my gap peaked at 9mm  The expander is the worst part by far - but now that I hav...

I had mine in for 6 months after I stopped turning so it was actually 7 months in total. I think it can depend on how much you expanded and how quickly your new bone grows. It sux big time but its really short term pain for the amazing results you'll get :D

I know it must be hard waiting so long to get your surgery - but just remember every day that goes by you are getting closer to your surgery date. I'm not sure if you have already but you could try getting another opinion about whether you're ready for surgery or not? There's no harm - apart from th...

When I was 18 I had one veneer placed on my right 2nd tooth beside my front tooth since it was the only tooth that was crooked. They shaved it down a bit but not a drastic amount. 5 years later I have jaw surgery and have to have the veneer removed to have the braces put on. The shaved tooth looks a...

I had x-rays about 9 months into having braces. She used them as a guide to re-position some of my brackets to align everything up again, and also to check on my bone growth in my palate (I had SARPE).

Well it looks like I do the least... I brush and listerine rinse in the morning, and floss, brush and listerine rinse at night. Thats it. I dont do anything else during the day... is that bad? I havent had any cavities or bad buildup, but I still get them cleaned at the denstist every 4 months as we...

Thanks for your replies. I didnt really think about the final stages of treatment where I may need to come in more often than once every 2 months. I will talk to her at my next appointment next week and discuss my options and what she feels would be the most logical way to go about this. Its definit...

Do you think its worth...

...me flying from Brisbane QLD to Melbourne VIC (approx. 2 hour flight) for my last 4 or so appointments rather than finding a new ortho? I am moving in about 2 months and I have approx 8 months to go with my braces. I have In-ovation C (damon) braces and my adjustments are around every 7 - 9 weeks ...

Are you having trouble with biting into soft things too, or just harder- or thicke/denser, things? Its only harder things like tough bread or something like that - I think its more the ripping of food than the biting of it if that makes sense. The braces do make it harder to bite into things as wel...

SAPRE survivors - can you bite with your front teeth yet?

I still have alot of sensitivity 1 year on. I can definitely bite alot better than I used to post op but its no where near back to normal. Has anyone who had SARPE a while ago been able to bite using their front teeth without any (or only a tiny bit) of sensitivity? I know it might take years but I'...
