Re: Is there any functional difference between invisalign and braces?

From a theoretical standpoint, most forces from braces can be done also with Invisalign. The issue however is how many orthodontists and dentists will actually be able to deliver the same types of results with both. For many years, both doctors and patients have claimed a superiority of results wit...

Re: Any orthodontists on here? Need some advice!

It is possible for the teeth to stay aligned but the bite to change, even with retainers. It is possible for the bite to "settle" in, as the teeth can move in a vertical direction, even with retainers. Furthermore, if your braces were removed last week, the teeth definitely shift if not he...

Re: Treatment time doesn't make sense.

Exactly as above. The treatment time is generally not going to coincide with the total number of aligners in the first sets. Generally, the first sets will get you very close to your results, with a new scan/impression after those are done to achieve the rest. Some longer treatments may require seve...

Re: On 2nd refinement set

The number of refinements is going to depend on your contract with the office you work with. The doctor and their office is the one who is in contract with Invisalign. There are products that can be purchased by the doctor to offer refinements for 5 years, 2 years, or as a certain finite number. Bes...

Re: Premolars Pushed out of Buccal Plate with Invisalign

The treatment pushing the teeth out of the buccal plate can happen with any treatment modality and is not unique to Invisalign. There is a certain amount of movement where the teeth will still be in the jaw bone. It may be a consideration to try to move the teeth back in orthodontically, but that de...

Re: Overjet 10mm. Can invisalign fix it?

As a recurring theme with Invisalign or braces treatment, the idea isn't whether the product of braces or Invisalign can correct a malocclusion, but rather the doctor you work with can use these tools to help make a correction. The best thing to do is visit an doctor to discuss your initial situatio...

Re: invisalign vs traditional braces.

The answer is going to be very much dependent on each individual. Some people aren't going to get into the routine of taking their aligners off and putting them back in. Some aren't going to take good care of their teeth with braces on and end up with gum disease or scars on them. At the end of the ...

Re: Deciding between two orthodontists

It is really tough to make a decision still based upon the information you've provided. At the end of the day, you have to feel comfortable that you will get the same results in each office, which is not necessarily the case. However, it would also be nice to have a good experience along the way. So...

Re: Carriere distalizer plus invisalign?

Congrats on going in for another journey into orthodontics! There are a number of ways to align the teeth and some doctors like to use a distalizer and Invisalign instead of elastics and Invisalign. At the end of the day it is going to depend on what your treating orthodontist is comfortable with. ...

Re: Double Jaw Surgery during Uni?

Pretty much all of our university students will opt for surgery right after their exams before summer break. Expect 2-4 weeks of not really wanting to do much after the surgery. If you feel you can be "out of commission" for that amount of time during the semester, you can consider it. Goo...

Re: Early Braces Removal (Fully Corrected) / Refund?

No harm in asking but as stated above, it is going to be dependent on your contract. Most treatments are for the "job done". There are actually a lot of people who are paying more for ways to get their treatment done more quickly. Remember also that in many cases, treatment times and payme...

Re: What are power chains used for other than closing gaps?

Power chains can also be used to hold teeth together to prevent space from opening, change the tip of the teeth, and rotate specific teeth. If you have questions about what is going on with your treatment, it might be something to bring up with your doctor. Hope that was helpful!

Amazing. Love this! We often tell patients that the only people that will notice are those who are or who have had Invisalign treatment, and those who are Invisalign providers. Thanks for sharing!
