Thanks Lingualita, I am so happy with my new smile! I know it's not quite a million dollar smile, but it's well worth at least $10,000 that I have in it. I will post new pics soon, brace-free!

No longer enduring this!!!!

Well, As of last week, I am free of braces!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!! I am so happy!!!!!! Four long years in them, but now they are gone. I have bonded retainers on top front four and bottom front six, and removable retainers that resemble invisaligns. So I suppose this will be my last post in this story. I ...

Speaking purely for myself, I was not going to do anything that would be temporary, or that might in any way limit functionality. So that meants any sort of bonding or veneers were right out in my books... I think I am confused? If you have any material added to the teeth, is it NOT permanent? I ha...

I know this may be a little late, but I had the gum surgery about a week and a half ago at a perio office. It is painful, not the procedure (muscle relaxer before procedure, lots of novacaine during and good pain killers for after), but since the good pain pills are gone, healing has been pretty pai...

OOps, just found a post, they are the same. Now I am curious if it is just the bottom they were talking about for me or what. I think my bottoms are (and have been for a little while) in good shape, but I think there are still some issues on top. Well, we'll see what happens. I am excited to be gett...

Is permanent retainer same as bonded?

Hi all, I was recently told that I may be getting a permanent retainer on my next ortho visit, so since all I am seeing on here is bonded retainers, I was wondering if they are one and the same? Also, Can they still make minor adjustments if you have a permanent retainer? Thanks in advance for any a...

Update with pics

Well, I had surgery on my gums on Oct 2. The perio called it a "pocket reduction", or crown lengthening. WOW, what a difference in my teeth!!!! I have teeth now! Here are some pics: (the "after" was taken about 4 days after surgery, so they are still very sore and kinda gross loo...

Hi, I did not have jaw surgery, it hasn't even been mentioned, just the "pocket removal" or crown lengthening. I still have my braces on, but I am close to the end and the perio said that they like to do this close to the end so that the ortho can see the teeth better and make any last min...

pocket reduction, crown lengthening or gingivectomy, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has had a pocket reduction, crown lengthening or gingivectomy. I recently had what the perio called a pocket reduction on most of my teeth (molars to molars, top & bottom). I have looked up different types of surgery and found that it is also called a gingivectomy or cro...

I have had the same problem too, well both, where to put the teeth and grinding. I know how bad those elastics can get too, at least the powerchain pain wears off, but those elastics... (if you don't wear them because they hurt too bad, it makes the time in braces longer, trust me) Anyhow, I use my ...

OrthoCAD, huh? See I knew something like that had to exist. I use AutoCAD to do my job (I do architectural drawings) and some of the add on programs for my job are completely amazing!
I would imagine the OrthoCAD should be pretty user friendly too. I will have to ask my ortho if they have it.

HA HA HA HA. Sorry I had to laugh. I too know how it feels to want them off soooooooo bad. If you guys feel like this after a little more than a year, imagine how I must feel after nearly 4 years :!: ha ha ha ha Well, it's probably not much different actually, since they really didn't bother me too ...

I didn't have to start wearing elastics until after I had my extraction. (I was over 2 years in by then). And I have been bad with my elastics, so heed my warning, if they tell you to wear them, do it, if not it will take longer to get the braces off! Did they put the brackets with hooks on your tee...

I really miss Rice Crispy Treats!!! They are one of my favorite and I have only been able to manage about 1 a year since I was braced. (I have to wait till my teeth do not hurt at all for many days, which is rare, before I attempt it). I also miss corn on the cob. I had it figured out last summer, b...
