Re: Whitening after braces?
Not sure about having them whitened the same day the braces come off, but I asked my ortho's assistant if I had to wait a certain amount of time before whitening and she said no. I had my braces off on June 1st and just had my whitening trays made today at my dentist's office.

Brace-Free!!!
After 2 years and 2 months, my braces were finally removed on June 1st! I have a permanent retainer behind both my top and bottom teeth as well as having to wear a Hawley full-time for 6 months. After that, it's only at night. Before: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h311/gurlygurl0430/Picture793.j...

Re: June Debrace Club!
I will officially be fully de-braced on June 1st at 10:40am!!! My lower braces were already removed on May 18th, but there was a small space still left to close on my uppers. I visited the ortho this morning because I'd had a closing coil on for over a week now and there was still no progress made o...

Can Hawley Close Small Gap???
I'm scheduled to get my braces off on 5/18 and have now had a small space open up between my canine and lateral incisor. I had a closing coil added two weeks ago to close the space and when I went in for my appointment yesterday it was closed. They bonded my upper permanent retainer and fitted me fo...

Re: Frustrated
I have a powerchain on top and bottom along with a metal coil to help close it up. From what he says the spaces are small,--that's why he's saying I'm so close to being finished with my treatment.

Re: Lower Recession
I had recession around both of my bottom canines and before I was braced I had two gum grafts done on each of the teeth. You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at them now, but if the recession is really bad, that could be an option for you.

Frustrated
When I was in for my appointment back in February, I had a small space in my upper arch that still needed closing. Because they were pressed for time, my ortho suggested making some bends in the wire for the time being and if that didn't close the space by my next appt in March, he was going to remo...

Fixed Retainer While Still Fully Braced?
I had an appointment with my ortho on Monday 11/29. He told me I was 99% done with my treatment and proceeded to fit me with a bonded retainer on my lower teeth. I'm still fully braced and in elastics and was just wondering if it was common to have a bonded retainer in and still be fully braced. I w...

Is the end closer than I think?
I'm in month 11 of an estimated 24 month treatment timeline. The purpose for getting braced was to correct over-crowding--my bite is fine and I had 4 extractions just after getting braced to make room. Here's my question: I went in for an adjustment February 22nd and the orthodontist said it was tim...

I've had my braces on for 6 months now and have had to go in a couple of times to get the wire clipped. This last time I went in, the assistant placed a 'stopper' on either side of my front bracket and said it would prevent the wire from sliding. It's been working so far! Stick it out with the wax a...

gaps from extractions
I had 4 pre-molars extracted mid-May due to over-crowding and was wondering (roughly) how long it usually takes for the gaps to close. Does the ortho use anything in particular to help in this process? I'm getting tired of having holes in my mouth and find them more embarrassing than the braces them...

Hello! I had 4 pre-molars extracted on Monday and the process was not painful at all. I did not get a second opinion and took my orthodontist's word that I needed the extractions due to the crowding on my top and bottom arch. To answer your last question about complications arising...watch out for d...
