braces age

I was 32 when I went for the full metal mouth.
At 15 I had a retainer style which didn't do much so took the plunge when I felt more confident as a person. V happy with results so far. :D

Had 3 extractions ( 2 upper bicsupids and 1 lower incisor), face not changed in appearance either. Think there is some scaremongering going on here. I'm sure face thinning happens to a small minority of people but orthodontists are qualified experts who know what they are doing. If in doubt, discuss...

I had power chains for 5 weeks, they do move things incredibly fast! Power chains are elastic so once they have pulled the required tooth they slacken and lose their tension. One of mine was so slack after 5 weeks that you could see it under the tooth. So don't worry, they won't pull things too far ...

I have a lower incisor and 2 pre-molars out early May. The incisor gap closed super quick (ouch) due to power chain but also because there was a tooth that was wayward behind so that really only needed to move to fill half the gap if that makes sense. My 2 premolar gaps are still there. Like LB my t...

I've gone to a private clinic on Wimpole St, W1. My ortho is called Dr Gill and according to my dentist was the bees knees at uni. He took impressions of my teeth and rearranged them to show what they'd be like after extractions and braces which was great to see. Cost is £3900 for self-ligaing brac...

I'm from Cambs too, nr St Neots.
I had a friend who had invisalign (I'm 33), a girl in her 20s in the pub had them and also an older lady had the full metal works at the rail station. There's quite a few of us!

Painful but so good to see it's for something! Have 3 extraction sites that need closing up. Don't think it will be too long though. I'm just hoping I don't have a small mouth at the end of it. All these posts have me a little concerned. My ortho did say that he didn't believe that self-ligating bra...

First adjustment - power chain!

I had my 1st adj last night and the infamous power chain was hooked round my left lower canine to bring it forward. Yikes, that hurt. I can already see the gap though. Also have a thicker archwire across the top. Not as bad as when I first got the braces on. The worst bit is having the pics taken af...

You guys have got a great deal. I'm also in UK in London and am paying a whopping 4K for my Inovation SL braces. I have seen the moulds of how my teeth will look when the process will be finished (he removed the teeth that were to be extracted and moved the rest of the teeth back). That's what convi...

I am also a very sloppy brusher usually ending up with toothpaste all dribbled down my clothes. I think it's because I use water on my brush with the toothpaste whereas some people use a dry brush, therefore not as much mess. Any other suggestions?

HI! Welcome! I had a lower incisor extracted, a week later I had 2 upper pre-molars (bicuspids) extracted and 3 days later had top and bottom SL braces. I would say leave a little longer between extractions to let the injection sites calm down (they were a bit sore in the roof of my mouth) and it wa...
