I was told 24/7 for one year and then night time only after that. I have upper and lower essix plus a bonded lower retainer. They wouldn't have given me a lower essix but I have to maintain a gap for a molar until I can afford to have an implant done.

Well I'm 32, have had braces over a year, and I'm pregnant. So, who's the crazy one here? I think it's me <looks around> Yep, definitely me

Seriously, don't let what other people say bother you.

I had a bag of elastics and I swear that every one in the bag was a different size. Including some that looked like the middle one in your photo....I'm thinking maybe our ortho's need a new supply company or something. With that bag, I'd sometimes use two of the thinner ones to make the same weight ...

Me! Me! I've had my braces for over a year. I hopefully have until October (minimum mentioned sentence). I'm terrified to ask if he thinks they'll come off by then because I'm afraid he'll say no. :-) Plus I'm sure he gets driven crazy with that question. I'm also pregnant and due August 4....I wish...

I think retainerjoe had a herbst. I could be wrong though. You could do a search also. I have a lot of pain with my regular braces where my crown is. The doc says that at certain points my crown is hitting first when I bite down and the crown is actually causing a bit of bruising to go on. It is unc...

I get light pink on my metal brackets, and that's my favorite. It's the least noticeable that I have tried. I feel that the silver ligs make my silver brackets look huge! I don't understand when people say that they feel the silver is less noticeable.

I have had wire ties. They twist a wire around a single bracket, cut most of the twisted tail off, and then tuck the last bit under the archwire. If you can tell that it's still twisted and on there good, then you should just be able to tuck it back under the wire. If you can't tell or if you can se...

When I was in college, my parent's insurance only covered me until I was 19 unless I was in school. We had to send proof that I was in school. Is that the case with your insurance. Maybe they need a copy of your transcript so far to continue your coverage.

I just hear what the ortho tells the assistant to put in there  I don't think it's a big deal at all if you don't know what wire you have in there.

I think this is Dr. Tam's site, but Patient 11 is what my teeth basically look like now, except of course I still have braces on :-)

I had my lower right central incisor extracted. I had a lot of crowding, and that tooth has always been out in front of the others. The gum was receded as well. My gap finished closing after about 8 months and to be honest you really have to look closely to notice that there's anything different. I ...

They started me with 014 NiTi, then changed to 016, they put a round stainless wire on my bottom arch for a month then switched it back to the 016 NiTi and I had the same wires for about 7 months. This month they put 16X22 wires on both arches, and I believe that they are stainless steel. I'm only h...

I always just put in new ones and I don't worry about how many I'm going through. They seem to loosen up after a few hours. Though I don't take them out to eat anymore because my teeth start to feel funny without them. I just change them when I'm done eating.
