I know that feeling! I have my braces off for almost a month and I am still stalking this forum!

Retainer Pain

Hi all I have just got some new Essix retainers (my old ones were active ones and they needed to be replaced). What I can't get over is the PAIN. THey are so incredibly tight. It can't be because my teeth have moved since my moulds were taken - I picked up the retainers about 6 hours later. When I t...

When I had my braces on I felt my mouth looked really swollen and ugly. In fact, a couple of people asked if something had happened to my mouth.

However, I don't think it had any affect on the rest of my face. It did cause me to smile less so I probably looked older and more serious.

I think we got braced on the same day. I got mine off last week - it feels fabulous! I am still getting some minor refinements done with active retainers but I am delighted with my teeth.

Good luck!

It was a bit of a surprise when I saw mine -and it took me a few days to get used to my new teeth.

I had a couple of small issues which my ortho has been taking care of with active Essix retainers. It is lovely to have naked teeth though! :)

Post braces my midline is off by about half a bottom tooth. It doesn't seem to affect my bite. My ortho gave me the option of having an extraction plus more time in braces to fix it. I decided it wasn't worth it and it doesn't bother me at all.

Bonding for Black Triangles

Hi all

Just wondering whether anyone has had or intends to have bonding done to reduce the impact of black triangles? I have a pretty bad spot on my lower arch that I would like to conceal.

Does bonding mean veneers i.e. very expensive?

My lower teeth tip forward because I opted not to have extractions. I prefer the "tipped forward" look to the big overjet I had before braces. Besides, in my case my lower teeth are quite concealed by my lower lip.

Cathy I have really enjoyed your story - very funny! Tiffsmile - I had Innovation C braces. They are not as discreet as Radiance brackets - because they are self-ligating there is a metal section on them. However - and this is the good news - you can eat and drink whatever you want with no risk of s...

Got mine off this morning. It feels surreal - like a dream sort of? I am torn between a constant desire to look in the mirror and a terrible fear of looking in the mirror (in case I see flaws). I knew my teeth were not going to be perfect but they good enough for me now. I will try to post before an...

Wax should be your best friend. Just as I could not have got through giving birth without copious amounts of drugs I would never have survived braces without lashings of wax on the bad days! My ortho told me to use it and gave me many free packs of the stuff so I don't believe in toughing it out. :w...

Hi Olivia - great first post! Your teeth look pretty good to me and I suspect that you would not be in braces for as long as a year (health warning; I am not an ortho!). I'm 36 and about to get my braces off on Weds. I've had the full set for 8 months and I am not going to pretend that the social si...
