I went the extraction route to correct an underbite and I am very happy with the results. I am still in braces but my profile has changed a lot, especially when I smile! My camera currently isn't working but I may be able to find some pictures on my Facebook that show the difference. PM if you want ...

Other people started to notice a difference in about a week. One of my front teeth was very crooked and started to noticeably shift quickly. I noticed a change in about 2-3 weeks. Other visible changes happened more gradually, like closing my gaps (one is still in the works). How fast you will notic...

Thanks to everyone who replied, I appreciate it. I read what everyone had to say and have had some time to breathe and think about it all more clearly. The whole thing does make me anxious but I am trying to be more open-minded about it and think positively. I'd like to make it clear that the dentis...

Oh to add, I'm going away with some friends this weekend and my mom and I decided to not do anything at his office today his response was, "And go away LIKE THAT?!" As if I'm some sort of freak.

I don't know if I'm being overly sensitive but I HAVE FEELINGS.

Deep cleaning? I'm freaked out and I want to cry.

This is long but please bear with me. I'm very upset. :( Yesterday morning, I noticed that a filling had come out on my very back molar on the upper left side of my mouth. So today, I went to a new dentists office by my house. I will admit that since getting my braces on, I have not been in for a cl...

I didn't do anything while getting my braces on. First, the assistant put on the molar bands and that had a lot of "Bite down, open, bite." During that, having headphones on wouldn't have worked even if I had wanted them. My orthodontists office has music playing but I don't remember if I ...

Congrats on getting braces! I can relate to looking young in the first place, then getting braces and looking even younger. I'm 21 but look like I'm about 16. Add the braces and well, I don't look younger than 16 but I FOR CERTAIN look 16 years old. My first day in braces was emotional. I hated the ...

That happens to me sometimes when I'm in the waiting room, too. That queasy feeling can come from being anxious and a little excited at what your orthodontist will have to say. If you're not nervous once you're in the chair, it's just the anticipation of what he/she will say about your teeth. Arrang...

I was given surgery as an option but decided not to have it. I had an extraction on my lower jaw, although it would technically be two; it's just that the other had been pulled when I was a kid for another reason. Having the spaces there would allow my orthodontist to compensate the teeth back. Sinc...

Sonicare toothbrush stops in the middle of brushing

I purchased a Sonicare toothbrush a few weeks ago but have not been using it regularly. The first couple times I used it, I made sure it was on the lowest possible setting but I still found it uncomfortable. I ended up brushing with a regular toothbrush. After easing myself into using it, I decided ...

I should have gotten braces as a kid or teenager. My parents didn't take me to the dentist as often as they should have and they weren't pushing for me to get braces, despite my teeth being crooked. Thanks mom and dad... I was too self-conscious to get braces in high school. I also had a tendency to...

I was 20 when I got mine on and I'm 21 now. After getting them on, I will admit that I cried and felt like I could never used to them but I DID! And it didn't take long at all. My friends and family were all supportive and once everyone I knew had seen me in them, I got more comfortable because I wa...
