I also do the major flossing and use my water pik after dinner and then don't eat anything else. I never realized how much the snacking at work and after dinner affected my weight. That and cutting out the soda and I have lost 16 pounds in 4 months. I feel better physically and people have noticed t...

My midline is off too. When I spoke to the Ortho yesterday he told me that the bite was the most important thing and that the midline will in all probability will always be off. Considering what the bottom teeth looked like before it is a good trade off. I am beginning to accept the fact that they w...

My tongue is always in the way. For the first few weeks I had the indentations and pain from biting it, but it slowly got better.

How to tell people no thank you and have them listen.

I have been trying to be good about what I eat and stay away from some of my favorites in fear that I could cause damage. Case in point, bagels. I know I could probably manage it by breaking off small pieces, but why risk it. The problem is when I decline an item from someone they say, oh just try a...

I have had mine for 5 weeks now. The pain lessened on the front teeth but my bottoms still feel dead. It is a strange feeling. I can finally bit something soft like a muffin with my front teeth. I suppose that means time for the adjustment (which is next week). It is so nice to know that we are not ...

I have a crown on my lower right side. The bracket popped off after 3 weeks while eating something soft. The ortho explained that they don't adhere well with crowns so he did the spacers and I go next week to have the band put on that tooth. I have other crowns but so far so good with them.

Bracket popped off

I have had my braces on for 3 1/2 weeks and this am while eating a soft croissant the rear lower bracket popped off. I bit down on it and at least didn't swallow it. I have to call the Orthodontist office as soon as they open, but was wondering if this is something common.

Hi! I've had mine for 9 days now so I know how you feel. I ate my first sandwich for lunch today (soft bread) so it does get easier.

Eating

I have only had the braces for 3 days and am wondering if eating gets better. I have been cutting soft foods into small bites and using my last teeth. That and soup and cream of wheat. But to tell the truth, I am hungry. Ok....a good kick start to a diet but I am concerned and what to eat out in pub...

I have put this off for years and finally decided to take care of myself too. It is so nice to know that I am not alone and so many others are going through this too. Thanks for the support.

2nd Day

I am 58 and had my braces put on yesterday. Of course I am not use to the foreign objects in my mouth and the discomfort I felt when I brushed my teeth this am, but I know it will be worth it in the long run.
