I second Dr Rick's assessment. I have a 'peg' lateral, which appears to be similar to yours (the teeth right next to your big front teeth). My ortho has moved my teeth to leave a space on either side of it for a veneer or bonding. In my experience, orthos will always tell you 18 months treatment. Fo...

Help! Aligner up in flames!
I am waiting for upper refinements and have been wearing my final upper aligner for the last 8 weeks. Tonight, my Other Half managed to throw it (and the paper it was wrapped in while we were having dinner) into the fireplace and it went up in flames! I see my ortho in three days to pick up my new a...

Hi Wireless. I am on aligner 33 of an initial 33, after a year of treatment, but I need refinements. My orthodontist told me last week I should expect only 5 or 6 more trays, but I'll believe it when I see it! For me, the year has flown by. I adapted very quickly and I don't think having braces has ...

I've been eating and drinking normally with my aligner in all through my treatment. This is still a somewhat controversial option, but my orthodontist recommends it because he believes the constant pressure gets better results. I take my aligner out after I finish eating and brush my teeth and the a...

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that at all. I've had one or two aligners that looked similar. Even if the attachment doesn't fit perfectly, it's not the end of the world, and yours looks like it is fitting in the bubble OK. I wouldn't go back three aligners -- that just sounds painful! If I were in your...

I'm completely baffled as to how attachments could possibly cause wrinkles. However, I can tell you that you will have your attachments removed for the new impressions. I would strongly advise you to take your orthodontists' advice about attachments and not rush into a different course of treatment ...

Hi Hazza and welcome. You've taken the first step towards a smile you like better just by coming here and asking questions. There are people here who can advise you about whether you are a candidate for invisalign, but I would certainly recommend you have a consultation with a couple of qualified or...

As a European living in the U.S., I can say in my experience, there is a LOT more pressure here to have perfect teeth. My teeth were the norm back home but when I came to America, people used to stare at me in slack-jawed amazement at the horror of my crooked teeth (ok, not quite but you get my drif...

Wow, people can be so insensitive. I'm sorry to hear you've had to go through that. I actually have had the opposite experience -- a co-worker, when she noticed my braces, commented that a lot of people she knows seem to have jaw and bite issues and have to get braces later in life for medical reaso...
