I had a big gap before braces and my ortho knew from the beginning that he would have to put a permanent retainer/bridge behind my 2 front top teeth to prevent them from ever shifting. I've had my braces off for 2 weeks and no issues or discomfort so far.

I'm 29 and married. Just got my braces off. My teeth weren't terrible, but I've always wanted a nice smile and straight teeth. I felt the same way as you did at first, but it's a small price to pay for the lifetime of a beautiful smile, granting they're taken care of after treatment.

I have the ability to brush my teeth after each meal. While I'm at work, I keep a toothbrush and toothpaste in my drawer and just use the bathroom sink. It helps keep them top notch.

Awesome, mg! I just got mine off this morning! I feel like a million bucks. After 21mo, it did go by fast. He shaped my teeth and leveled them out. I am SO happy. Congrats to you!

I was told an hour might be okay without them in, but she didn't seem to happy about that question. Standard practice would be to maybe excuse yourself to the restroom right before and after eating. I wouldn't risk leaving them out for an hour unless absolutely needed.

I just got my lowers off about 2hrs ago. It did not hurt at all. I didn't even realize she had taken them off. The only discomfort was the scraping of the glue left behind, and moreso, holding my mouth open for 30min. Otherwise, not bad at all.

My ortho enjoys answering the questions I've presented. I think he admires someone who actually cares about their teeth, as does my dentist. I'm sure they see a lot of younger clients that do not abide by the rules, meaning they don't floss, brush, etc. A good ortho that enjoys his/her job will welc...

Yes, it's very common. Even 3 weeks after an adjustment, out of the blue, a molar or other tooth would begin to get sore. My ortho said it's normal.

I'm 28, male, and got metal. I wanted them off as fast as possible and metal is stronger and faster, according to my ortho. Braces are braces...I figured ceramic was just as noticeable as metal. You're not fooling anyone. ;)

I had mine put on at 27yrs old. Keep in mind that everyone's teeth respond differently. Mine moved quite well, in a timely fashion. I've known people 50+ yrs old with braces so age is not a factor! Several of my molars have been filled over the years due to poor habits. No issues with braces. Mine c...

Mine was predicted for 20-26 months and they're coming off at 21mo. My ortho is awesome though, and I haven't missed an apt yet. Bottoms come off tomorrow and tops come off next week.
