Congrats!! :) All that in one year and a couple months - wow! So how did your actual treatment time compare to the estimated treatment time?

Hi ohara, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling that way! I felt similar the days before getting my braces. I was excited, but a little scared, too. I started thinking about people's reactions in the days before when I'd given them the heads up about my getting braces - a lot of "but your teeth are fine!...

That's great cathykay! Congrats on starting the braces journey! Many people say the spacers are the worst part, so that's wonderful you haven't had any pain. I'd imagine that if you didn't feel pain by now you probably won't.

Good luck next Wednesday and keep us posted! :D

I think what you're experiencing is normal. I've had my braces on for a couple months now, and especially at the beginning, the front 4-6 on the top and bottom just felt - well - creepy! I couldn't stand them touching because of the funny feeling. I have an adjustment (my first) on Monday so I wonde...

I agree with Megan. If you're going to be getting ceramic, it is probably not a bad idea. I whitened mine (not professional - just using white strips) in the weeks leading up to getting braces to be sure my sapphire brackets would look their best. :)

Yay for getting rid of spacers!! I'm glad your bands didn't hurt like mine did (and still do a bit). Do you feel like your bite is funny at all with the bands? It may just be my imagination, but I swear one of my crooked teeth is already straighter than it was just two weeks ago! :) Hurray for progr...

I have the clear on top and metal on bottom (metal was the only option for me on the bottom). Pictures are in my braces story... the link is in my footer.

You can do it Rachael! Glad to hear you're still going ahead with it! I kept questioning my decision up until about the week before (then I just got excited and wanted it done IMMEDIATELY). Anyway, nothing is as bad as you imagine it might be. People are very supportive of adults in braces - and rea...

Hi Abbey70!

Congrats on getting started with your braces. The first step is the hardest - making the decision and jumping in - the rest will be pretty easy, even the spacers and the bands. And if you do have any concerns along the way this forum will offer lots of support!

Cheers,

Last week, while meeting with colleagues, it finally happened: inexplicably, a large "saliva ball" flew out of my mouth and onto the papers on the table  ! I don't embarrass easily, but that was humiliating. It was like a slo-mo replay and I could see every eye in the room following it to th...

In my previous post I meant bands, not brackets!! Sorry, to many "b" braces terms going on. I don't see that I can edit previous posts...[/b]

Bands on Today

Rachel, how are those spacers treating you? Has it gotten any better yet? sdawdy, thanks for the post and the helpful hint! I wish I would have seen your post before my ortho visit today to have the bands placed. Good news is that now I know if I have problems there may be a fix! Brackets and full w...

YES!! It's been almost three weeks for me and I think you hit the nail on the head saying it feels like a mouth full of marbles. I'm a bit lispy, and if I get even a little dehydrated, it feels like my tongue is twice its normal size. :?
