My orthodontist told me 24/7 for at least 3 months, but I cheated a bit as I was working at a busy mall over Christmas and wasn't able to stop to brush my teeth every time I needed to take a drink of something, so I would take them out a few hours here and a few there after about 2 months, now I onl...

It only took like 5 days for my Hawley's to be made...and he left the braces on until they came in.

I am noticing one of my upper laterals is starting to tip outward a bit though.

I am not a teacher, but I'm a Program Leader with the YMCA lunchtime and after school programs, and the kids all think it's neat that I have retainers. One girl today said she is getting retainers this Thursday, and is scared, but then she saw mine and wasn't scared anymore! It was sweet. She was 9 ...

That is something that could be either the teeth being uneven, or a jaw alignment issue. Mine was a little of both, but I opted away from surgery to correct my bite. I'd recommend talking to your ortho :)

Ah, thanks! I am having trouble with things like bagels and stuff that's not super hard, but kind of chewy. I haven't even attempted anything super hard...everything has been cut up into litle pieces but my molars are a bit sore too. This is putting a big damper on being debraced!

Help! Pain after more than a week?

Hi there, I got my braces off last Thursday (go me! hehe) and I'm still experiencing a lot of pain and can't bite into things. Is this normal, or should I get int ouch with my ortho? It's really bothering me because a) tooth and jaw pain sucks! and b) I'm getting kind of sick of the soft-foods diet ...

I get you on the getting older in braces thing! I got mine on halfway through my last semester of university. So I am grinning ear-to-ear with a face full of metal in my university yearbook, when I didn't even have braces in my Jr High one! I look 12! haha Probably a smart thing for him to not give ...

Re: And they're OFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!

They look great, you must be very pleased. I get debraced in exactly 14 days (2 years and 4 days) and cannot wait although I am getting a bit nervous about the actual debanding. Did it hurt getting them off? These things are stuck on so fast that I can't imagine how they will come off so easily. I ...

Re: What a Year Can Do!!!

One year ago I was diagnosed with severe TMJ because of a deep overbite and because of so much crowding in my lower left jaw I was at risk of losing a one if not more teeth. Cosmetically, my teeth didn't look horrible, but to my orthodontist they were a nightmare. One year later, he is amazed by th...

1. Yes. A lot of people on the board have had great sucess with the correction of crossbite with elastics. Keep in mind that your muscles are still getting used to the new position of your jaw, and the elastics will help train them to work how they are supposed to. 2. Again, from what I've read, yes...

I had the same issue with my lower incisors, they were all over the place, and one of my lower canines was all out of whack too. The ortho used a funny little device to crimp the wire upward/downward on either side of the tooth and was able to bring several of my teeth up and down as needed. He only...

Hi there, congrats on the big day tomorrow! I got mine on last October when I was 22, and got them off last week. Mine were split up for a few reasons; I got my uppers on in October and then my lowers in December because of my bite. My upper teeth overlap my lowers because I have a pretty bad overbi...

I was told 24/7 wear for minimum 3 months, but also got my braces off earlier than expected. My ortho's assistant told me to brush them wtih a soft brush and either denture cleaning foam or mouthwash after each meal. I usually give them a soak in half-and-half solution of mouthwash and lukewarm wate...
