Re: Bonded Retainer Questions - Please HELP!!
It really isn''t a problem to have fixed or removable retainers. It just becomes a tiny part of every day life, there are worse things than using retainers to deal with.

Re: Bonded Retainer Questions - Please HELP!!
I have had bonded retainers, upper and lower since my braces were removed in 2010. I had impressions taken a couple of weeks before my braces were removed. The retainers were placed just before my braces were removed. The fixed retainers are behind the front 6 teeth upper and lower. I don't floss bu...

Re: Do adults teeth fall out of alignment after braces?
Retainers are not uncomfortable. I have been brace free since 2010 and my teeth have not moved at all. I have fixed retainers top and bottom and also use Essix retainers. I am now 60 and quite happy to continue to use them!

Re: Never wear retainer during the day???
I have had Essix retainers since 2010 and was told to wear them every night dropping down to 2-3 nights, that has worked for me. I also agree with Jem about teeth needing to bite together properly.

Re: Fixed plastic retainer (Essix?) and bonded retainer quer
I had impressions taken for my fixed retainers, top and bottom, before my braces were removed. Then at the appointment when my braces were due to be removed the fixed retainers were put in place - while I still had braces on. After the braces were removed impressions were taken for the Essix retaine...

Re: Last Archwire But 10 Months Remain?
Hi Maple, I was just updating my story and saw your post. I had the stainless steel wire on my upper arch in July 2009 but didn't get my braces off until July 2010. It stayed in place and wasn't touched until I had a couple of bends put in just before the braces came off. The lower stainless steel w...

Re: My Braces at 53
My lower Essix retainer developed a split about a year ago so I contacted the ortho's office was able to have a replacement made from the impression taken when I had my braces taken off in 2010. It fitted well - no problems. Unfortunately that retainer has only lasted a year - I still do clench my t...

Re: How do they straighten a tilted lower rear molar?
Hi, it took just over a year for the tooth to become upright, then a couple of months later I had to have the bracket re-positioned to help rotate it. I've just tried to add a link to my story but can't work out how to do it on iPad. If you look for my story entitled "My Braces at 53" you ...

Re: How do they straighten a tilted lower rear molar?
Hi, One of my lower right molars was tilted over at 45 degrees. It was included on the archwire which was quite bent to start with. Gradually the wire straightened as the molar came into line. No springs or anything else. The molar was too tight to surrounding teeth so I could't have a molar band on ...

Re: Anyone have a permanent upper retainer? Opinions?
Hi, I have both upper and lower fixed retainers and also use Essix retainers at night. The fixed retainers are no problem. I didn't have a diastema it was just something the ortho offered but it was up to me to decide whether I wanted the fixed retainers. I decided I would have fixed retainers becau...

Re: Anyone have really sensitive teeth after debanding?
Hi, I finished my treatment in 2010, with upper and lower fixed braces and found that it took about a year for my teeth to really settle down and feel comfortable. I kept using toothpaste for sensitive teeth and also the the one's which build up enamel & I still use them now. I thought my teeth ...

Re: Taking out and putting in Essex retainers...help plz
When I first had my retainers I struggled with taking them off. I was told to take hold of the retainer at one end and gently pull it away from my teeth until the whole retainer was off. I was also told to think of it as being like undoing a zip - that worked for me.

Re: Braces Payment Plan without credit check?
My payment plan was arranged with the orthodontist. He offered a reduction for payment up front or payment over 16 months. On the day I got my braces I took a form to the bank to set up a standing order & that was it. My treatment lasted 20 months so I had a few months where I wasn't paying whic...

Re: Elastics question
The ortho put the elastics in my mouth & the assistant ran through the set up again. They also took the usual picture of my teeth at the end of my appointment but printed off a copy for me to take away. Perhaps you could ask for that.
