Re: 2 yr post-op, not remotely satisfied (pic)...2nd surgery

2 yr post-op, not remotely satisfied (pic)...2nd surgery??
I spent 4 years of my life, and $10,000 plus on braces/extractions/surgery, and i'm just not satisfied unfortunately. For one, I think i NEVER should have had extractions, and I feel my poor result has to do with that, but I've accepted that I can do nothing more about that, what's done is done. But...

Re: Adult Non-Surgical Palatal Expansion
hmm makes sense. thank you very much for the help. i remember hearing the same from my surgeon when i asked him about the bottom expanding to meet the top (since my top jaw was expanding via surgery) and he also echoed those sentiments, that the lower jaw didn't need widening b/c the top arch and yo...

Re: Adult Non-Surgical Palatal Expansion
i have a few questions, but i'm not really sure if it necessary relates to this discussion in particular. so i had 4 premolars removed a few years ago, and then orthognathic surgery to widen, shorten, and move my upper jaw forward; my lower jaw was also moved forward. but even after all this, while ...

Re: Reversing extractions - Update
i'd also be very interested in an update. i had extractions a few years ago, followed by orthognathic surgery, and it's caused me much depression regarding my now sunken in face. i've recently been doing a lot of research about reversing extractions, but not finding many success stories out there. l...

Re: jaw shifting/loose? 8 months post-op
Hi Jonathan, I had the upper/lower jaw surgery too, just one month before you did. I have the same type of feeling in my left jaw joint. I started noticing it only a couple of months ago. I talked my my OS about it and he said it's because the muscles around my left jaw joint are still very tight a...

jaw shifting/loose? 8 months post-op
I'm soo frustrated with this whole process. Not only am I not happy with the look of my new face so far (far from balanced, although there is still swelling/puffiness), the pain I've been experiencing on my left side has not gone away still, nor gotten any better. Here's an earlier thread... http://...

Re: HELP!! 7 months post op, but excruciating pain today..
thanks for the replies guys. yeah i'm gonna call the office in a little bit, to see if i can come in very soon. i'm pretty confident it's not a tooth; the pain is around my left ear, but underneath it. also underneath my lower left jaw line. but most of it's coming from underneath my ear area. the p...

Re: HELP!! 7 months post op, but excruciating pain today..
i should also mention that it's just one side.
the pain has ALWAYS come from mainly the left side. the right side is awesome. so this concerns me even more, as it makes me think something is wrong structurally with that one side.

HELP!! 7 months post op, but excruciating pain today..
Okay my sincere apologies as I just made this thread the other week... http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=40587 but today there were new developments. I'm just lying on the couch today with my head(jaw) propped up by my hand, when something happened. I have no idea what it was but ...

Re: Is everyday pain typical at 7 months post-op??
It could either be TMJ or Just Post Op pain,I never had this specific surgery but i've had 7 surgeries on various things and every now nad again I'll get a little pain. You should talk to the Oral Surgeon and ask if it could be TMJ or something wrong with the surgery, sounds like TMJ, I have TMJ an...

Is everyday pain typical at 7 months post-op??
In March I had quite a bit done, relatively speaking. Advanced lower jaw and upper jaw, widened upper jaw, and sliding genio. I'm pretty shocked that the healing process for me has gone so slowly though. For one, I still have swelling in my cheeks (closer to my nose) and I'm fairly certain my upper ...

Re: To anybody who's already had jaw surgery...
I cannot stress enough what a few other posters already mentioned - keeping your nostrils clear. I was totally unprepared for the struggle it would be to breathe in the first 3-4 days post op. Like someone else said too, don't plan on getting much sleep. Do plan on going through hell lol. I'm sure s...
