OK, so it's been a really long time since I posted. It's not that the time's gone quickly, it's that over the last few months I've grown to dislike my smile almost more than I did before I started treatment and have been deliberately trying to forget I'm on this journey. At the beginning of the year...

For me spacers were by far the worst experience - I had the rubber style. They were seriously unpleasant and I found the pain excruciating (I won't go into too many details, but honestly, they were bad!) The pain started about 12hrs after they were placed, lasted around 4 days, then disappeared. I h...

I also have ceramic on the 6 top front 'social' teeth and I'm happy with my choice. I initially investigated Invisalign but the cost was prohibitive ($2000 more) and it was not likely I'd acheive the result I wanted. Additionally I followed the progress of someone who had the 6 month invisalign trea...

Hi there - this is perfectly normal. I find that sometimes my teeth will start to ache a couple of days before an adjustment is due, even if they didn't straight after the last adjustment!

Ok, normally I'd not post in a topic like this, but I see some parallels in our stories and I'm so amazed by the difference in your attitude that I just have to put in my 2 cents worth. I did not visit a dentist for over 17 years (from around the age of 13) due to lack of funds, and eventually a sev...

Thanks techiegirl74! I haven't bothered to take photos over the last few months, because frankly, I've been really disappointed with the changes and didn't want to keep a record of the 'down parts'. To catch you up quickly, the power chain on the bottom continued for a couple of months with nothing ...

Are you sure that it was your braces? At your age your body is still growing and while I can see that the expander may have affected your maxilla, I'm not sure how braces in general could change the shape of your temporal and frontal bones.

I wear thick black glasses and I have ceramic brackets on top, metal on the bottom. Originally I planned to switch to contact while I have the braces on, then I realised how silly that was, especially once I was banded and realised how nice the brackets looked :)

Another catch up!

First up, thanks everyone for your lovely comments! I've been keeping my blog updated with progress, but until lately I hadn't noticed many more changes, so haven't been updating here... so here's a quick catch up since adjustment 3: Adjustment 4 http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tLZcG4QSji0/ShdU3fZI0-I/AAA...

Hey Shar! Wow - personally I think you've had a lot of progress! I too have a pesky gap which keeps opening and closing on the right thanks to a rotated canine that's trying to figure out where it needs to go but I'm trying to take it as part of the process, and really looking forward to getting my ...

Terrific progress! Quick question: was it painful to have your fillings changed over? It's something I'm considering when this is all said and done. Hi there! Thank you - I'm pretty excited about how they're looking and how quickly time is going :) Don't worry, there's absolutely no pain at all hav...

Adjustment 3 & another new wire...

At my last adjustment, my ortho upped my wire strength and told me that I had approx. 9 more wires to work through before I was finished in total, and 3-4 more wires before he started closing my gaps (hopefully this means I'm on track for my 2 yr diagnosis). He capped it off by saying that if they k...

Errrrr - what happened to the editing function that used to be there??!!??!!?!? A bit of a catch up...

I'm actually only a couple of weeks away from adjustment number 4, so this is more of a restrospective! While I've been lazy here, I've been keeping a separate blog with my updates in it so below is a condensed version, minus other ramblings :) Adjustment 2: It's now just under 2 months into treatme...
