Re: Can anyone help, UK Surgeons?

Hello, I happened to come back to this board after a few years absence and saw your message - I had upper and lower surgery jaw in the uk in May 2010 and was delighted with the results. I had my surgery with Mr Henri Thuau in London who came very highly recommended and after extensive research. The ...

What the above poster says is exactly right. My surgon made the first splint to fit over my lower jaw in order to move the upper first in line with his measurements and position it in the right place. He then put a splint on the uppers with the intended position of the lower jaw measured out on it s...

Thanks for the support Audra and HokieTay, but it's not worth responding to some aggressive troll who clearly just wants to fight. I'll speak to the moderator about locking this thread.

Blimey, what nasty aggressive posts! Thanks for quoting my blog, I was talking about confidence but you seem to be mixing it up with personality which are two different things entirely. I also know plenty about TMD and that has nothing to do with personality either - someone who's nasty and aggressi...

HokieTay is right, anyone expecting their cinderella style transformation of their life is due to be hugely disappointed. If you're insecure before surgery you'll be insecure after surgery, and it's extremely foolish to expect it to make any difference to what you're like to live with. Biggs, sorry ...

The orthodontist/surgeon relationship is of vital importance! It's a team effort so they must discuss it and be in agreement in advance, then work together throughout the whole process. The orthodontist takes the dominant role as it is he who moves the teeth, which is the deciding factor in how much...

Hi Josh's mom, So sorry to hear that! I know exactly how gut-wrenchingly frustrated you must feel - back in May my surgery was postponed 3 days before it was due to go ahead and I could have murdered my surgeon (even though it wasn't his fault!) Try not to get too upset though, fate has obviously de...

Hi Malvernhorse, Your first step is to speak to your orthodontist. Although he doesn't need to be involved in your genio he's likely to be working with several surgeons for other patients of his, so should be able to give you a few names. Another option is to contact the association of maxillofacial...

Not foolish at all. This surgery can be a very personal and emotional matter so it's no-one else's business but your own. However as everyone above has mentioned, it's good to have a small group in on the plan as they're likely to be the ones who'll pull you through when you're at a low ebb post sur...

I'm only 8 weeks since surgery myself so cannot help you on the long term question, but my surgeon told me that it's totally normal to get bizarre nerve feelings for some time after surgery - he's told me not to worry about anything in the first 6 months and to expect it to take a year to fully disa...

Hang in there - the 4 day mark was my absolute lowest point and I guarantee you'll start feeling better from here on in! Just focus on relaxing and try not to worry about anything that is happening, your body's natural repair systems will do the rest :) As for the congestion my surgeon recommended a...

Yep i'm getting this too, mostly on the lower but a little on the upper. Flossing is quite painful so i'm also using interdental brushes dipped in an antiseptic just in case it's linked to infection of some sort.

I'm seeing my surgeon next Tuesday, i'll ask him about it and report back...

Ohh I sympathise - the dreaded 'family chin' is a curse! So, just to clarify, you're fitted with a brace right now but it's only to straighten your teeth and not fix any functional issues? And therefore you're in the care of an orthodontist, correct? Also, what country are you in? Sorry for all the ...

Whilst Kirish is right to remind us all that it's always good idea to always ask if your xrays are absolutely necessary, I wouldn't worry about these types of reports that are usually taken out of context and rarely based on bona fide peer reviewed journals, without any critical analysis at all. Als...
