Re: Getting In-Network Coverage?

Send me a private message and I'll be happy to share my orthodontist's and surgeon's names with you. I highly recommend both!

hey everyone! sorry I've been MIA for a while...I think I'm finally to that point where you start to move on from everything and want to think about all this as little as possible. Which is a good thing. :) I get my braces off Nov 4th! I'm going to the orthodontist on Tuesday to make sure that's sti...

Sara, I had some gum recession and some pretty bad sensitivity around 2 weeks post-op as well in my lower front teeth. I think because brushing was kind of difficult since I still had surgical hooks on all my brackets, I may have been brushing that area much harder than normal to make sure I was get...

I definitely had the same thing...it was because I had more swelling on one side than the other. Don't panic! :)

I'm nearly 4 months post-op, and my nose is definitely even again now (way more so than pre-op!). I never would have thought it would look like this at 7 days post-op.

Hope this helps!

I used warm, moist heat (heat pack wrapped in moist towel) before, during, and after stretching. It really helps loosen things up. Since you are past 4 weeks post-op, you can use finger pressure to open your mouth wider. First, stretch like the previous poster says (opening as wide as possible and s...

Hello guys! BracketRacket- I have numbness in my upper gums and around my upper lip/nose area on my right side. It's really annoying. I can say my residual swelling seems to have snuck away when I stopped paying so much attention...that, or I've gotten really used to it. :) When you say your wires a...

It is a very strange feeling! I started to wonder if it would ever open more...but like you said, each day you get a little more and more. I did do the massage myself...my OS told me to do it during/after warm heat. You just rub your muscles and anywhere there's swelling in a slow circular motion......

You should be fine to put the same ones back in at least one of the times (I usually get a fresh pair 2 times a day since they tend to stretch out throughout the day anyway). So, put a fresh pair in in the morning after you brush your teeth, take them out to eat and brush lunch, and then put the sam...

Glad I could ease your mind! :) And yes, it's so great to not have to jut my lower jaw forward anymore to try to look normal...so much less pain and headaches!

Wow...you guys have some great stories to tell!! I really had never thought about what was involved in SARPE, especially of what you two are telling me! javascript:emoticon('') And I'm amazed how quickly your gap is closing, BracketRacket! Congrats--I know it had to be great to see pr...

Definitely normal...I wasn't banded or wired shut tightly after surgery, and I was stuck at one finger width ROM for a few weeks right after surgery. Now I'm nearly 100% of pre-surgery ROM and am 10 weeks out..I've done LOTS of exercises per my surgeon's recommendations to get here. Also, he tells a...

If you have upper jaw surgery (most postings here are some deviation of a Lefort I, whether they be one piece, two piece, three piece, etc), usually the nose is affected (and usually in a good way...for both looks and breathing). The reason for this is that upper jaw surgery involves changing the bo...

I would say I was on a VERY soft diet at first...like mashed potatoes with gravy, applesauce, blended soups, etc. I couldn't have anything with milk (unless it was processed, like ensure, boost, etc) for the first few days I remember as well. Then after a couple of weeks I could do soft chew, like s...

Yay BracketRacket for eating new things! I've still not tried pizza, and I'm officially 10 weeks post-op tomorrow (which is what my post-op recovery book says is necessary for healing to be able to eat harder foods)...so that may be in my near future. I still have trouble chewing things all the way ...

I agree with crumble as far as being honest...you may not go into lots of details since it can freak some people out. But it wouldn't hurt to say that you're having jaw surgery and there's a chance you may not be able to talk as long or as often as you do right now, at least for a week or so. Also, ...
