Re: Why do adults get braces if results don't last?
I've read that after braces teeth go back to their original position, especially for adults since they are already done growing. What is the point in getting braces if teeth move back? Also with jaw surgery they use screws or metal plates to keep the bite in tact, is there anything more aggressive ...

Re: Took my braces off in record time!
LOL! I like regular retainers as opposed to the clear ones, but it's a bit of a hassle either way, you have to take those out too. If you wanted to, I'm sure you could ask your ortho to make you another set - but they might make you pay extra for them. BTW your teeth look great! Did the rembrandt wh...

Re: Slenderizing?????
Yes it is.... I don't remember anything like this being around the first time I had braces. This is one of the best braces-related sites I have ever seen, when I was researching something I found like 47 pages of posts from people HERE and not much from any other sites online.

Re: New retainer - not sure what it is!
Did you ask your ortho what the extra parts are for? I wonder if the arrow forward is supposed to bring your teeth out more or something, then the gap would disappear lol. I would ask, anybody who answers here except an ortho would only be guessing.

Re: Spring retainer Question/HELP!!!!
Well I'm really happy with the results. I think I'll stick with the removable Hi there, I haven't been here in a couple months but I have spring retainers, they seem to be working. I think I had the same problem you did on the bottom, I received a permanent retainer too after my braces and it didn'...

Re: Slenderizing?????
Thanks for the tip!! Wish I would've known to take Tylenol before having them put on!!! Two questions: What's a powerchain? Any idea why they want the teeth to be thinner? I of course didn't ask him. Lol Hi llbill, it's usually to gain a little bit of space to move, tilt, or rotate a tooth or sever...

Re: thank-you all
I am going to go thru with the consult I have scheduled and maybe get another quote from another dr. but I have to admit I respect my Dentist and she knows what a wreck I am about my teeth- bad dreams, obsessive thoughts alot of the time, super fearful, a regular cleaning takes everything I have to...

I agree with Wireless. I had some relapse of lower teeth even with a bonded retainer, so I believe just a bonded by itself is sometimes not enough. I think it's also partially dependent on how bad your teeth were before treatment too, if they didn't need much aligning or tipping, then they may not b...

Soooooooo are you saying that generally you if get a permanent retainer you also wear a removable 24/7 (for the time necessary) or just at night?? Ugh, nothing is easy with this crap...... Heh... when I first got my braces off, my ortho said I didn't need more than the bonded, and then I was suppos...

Re: Need a general consensus on permanent retainers
I still have a solid few months left, probably more like six. I know there are a couple threads back there where permanent retainers were discussed, however I'm looking for a solid general consensus on them. My ortho told me that he will have no problem fixing them on if that's what I want. The ups...

I have two springs in my hawley, and they make my teeth sore, my lower one doesn't have springs but the loops are adjusted. I think it depends what your ortho is trying to accomplish with the retainers. Yours sound active, like mine. I have my story posted somewhere under my name, and I have some ph...

It was stupid awful trying to thread floss when I had a bonded retainer, I used a small proxybrush instead. I liked having the bonded, I had it for YEARS, but for some reason, some tiny spaces and shifting/flaring occurred even WITH it. If you're ever unhappy with the bonded, get a removable. It's n...
