You floss above the wire like normal. To get underneath the wire you need floss with a stiffened tip and push it in at the gumline.
About a minute into this video it demonstrates flossing:

Re: question on tooth movement after braces removed
I had Hawley retainers, I hated them because they did not keep my teeth in place. Now I have Essix retainers, and my teeth have not moved at all. I advice everybody to get the essix retainers and then you won't have to worry about a thing. I have hawley and my teeth haven't moved at all in the 8 mo...

Re: Painful bump on inside of top jaw.
My guess is food is caught up in there. If I am right, then the dentist will clean the area and get whatever is in there out, and it will heal in no time after that.

Re: Can retainers work on leveling teeth?
I would say no because there is nothing to anchor them to allow vertical force.

Re: whitening
You can get it on ebay for under $20 including shipping to Canada for the 4.2oz.
I am very skeptical though, I can't see it being any better than the more mainstream whitening pastes.

Re: Braces removed yesterday and I have a question.
Your teeth are setting and will be for quite some time. Flossing was loose for me at first as well. For cleaning the retainer. I have hawley but I can't see cleaning being different. Whenever I take my retainer out, I run it under water and scrub with my fingers until there is no more slimy saliva f...

Re: Edge-to-edge bite after braces.
Maybe some type of elastic configuration can be used to treat it. Best advice I can give it to consult with a few different ortho's and go with whoever you feel most comfortable with.

And, 11 days is plenty of time to consult with many many other orthos. Again I don't see what the problem is. I think you just like to argue, you can reply again but I will stop here. I have explained what my problems were with the things you have been saying. And consulting with other orthos is so...

Re: Been in braces about 6 weeks and feeling very discourage
If you want me to stop reading your posts, then stop replying to mine. And nice attempt at the backpeddling there. But you said what you said and I replied directly to it. If you meant something else then you should have said it that way to begin with. There is nothing wrong with getting other consu...

Re: Been in braces about 6 weeks and feeling very discourage
I did NOT say to stop treatment right away... I said to go find some other orthos to consult with, and then make a decision b/c it is obvious the op is uncomfortable in her situation and I agree completely b/c I would feel the same way. Really? If i were you, I would stop treatment w/this guy, and ...

Re: Been in braces about 6 weeks and feeling very discourage
and have crooked teeth being straightened means one thing, having more prominent front teeth, and if the bottoms are not addressed too, then there WILL be an overbite. I'm only going by the facts that I have read here, This is not a fact. You don't even know what has caused the slight crowding to t...

Re: Been in braces about 6 weeks and feeling very discourage
VA5 I think it is unfair to make those statements about her dentist. You have no idea what the teeth started out like and what the final goal is. Speed braces are quite sufficient for many people, so to judge this situation based on your own standards and not having any of the facts or hands on skil...
