I'm not strickly vegetarian but my main source of food is plant based and while some plants give me more problems than others it really hasn't been a problem. Broccoli is some what of a pain to get out of my braces but I found that with the water pik, it's not as much of an issue. As cat meow said I...

The very first time I saw them, at the Orthos's office right after they put them on was a bit of a shock I guess. My most prominate thought was, "wow, my teeth are really crooked" because the brackets didn't line up nicely across my teeth as I guess I expected that they would. I don't thin...

Hi TinselTim!

Yep I'm in Oregon but about 25 miles NW of Portland, living in the lovely hamlet of St. Helens for about 4 years now and all I can say about that is Thank God Portland is only 25 miles away!

I said no but because of the economy my husband and I are cutting back on other thngs for the next year while my braces are being paid for. For example, I have pretty much given up driving my car and now walk or bike everywhere except for the once a week trip to the grocery store. We also took advan...

I've had braces for 6 weeks and I've already seen some small movement. Not a huge amount but enough to make me break out the pre braces photos taken by my ortho for comparison.

Everyone has different experiences with movement but I think you'll probably begin to see small movement in a few weeks.

Hi guji girl! Sorry to hear that your first adjustment wasn't as pain free as mine was, maybe next time it will be. I'm in this for the long haul of 2 years...only 22 and a half to go! It hasn't been too bad so far. The inside of my lips and cheeks have suffered the worse but that's gotten a lot bet...

First Adjustment

So yesterday November 4th was not only Super Tuesday in the USA, it was also 6 weeks since my being braced and the day of my first adjustment. I have to say that I haven't been looking forward to this since I've heard some painful stories about adjustments but I went in with an open mind and was ple...

I think everyone is a bit of a drama queen when getting braces, especially adults. I still have to have 2 premolars extracted...not looking forward to that. :( I'm strangely excited about elastics as well. I guess I see them as the step towards real progress. Good luck and keep us posted on your pro...

I've had my braces on for a month now and I can honestly say that flossing is still a hassle but it doesn't hurt anymore. At first my bottom front teeth were so sore I wanted to cry everytime I had to floss them, that lasted about 2 weeks, and tape is easier to get in between the tight teeth. I have...

Have you tried calling your ortho? You mentioned that they are closed on Friday but they might have a service where you can leave a message. If you're freaking out about it you might give it a try. My ortho said that if I run into any problems after hours I can call and leave a message with his serv...

Yep I went through this too, but it does go away after awhile. I found that the tape went through much easier and with almost no shredding than the other floss. I was told that someone makes a no shred floss but I've never looked for it. My friend told me when I was going through this to try putting...

Nuts, granola, chips.

Sushi is tough to eat but it can be done.

I miss being able to actually bite into a sandwich and pizza but I still eat them...I just cut them up into small pieces.

I eat much, much slower now, but that's a good thing.

I'm almost a month in now and to be honest while I don't enjoy eating as much as I used to I can eat most things without too much trouble. I still don't really bite into things but that's mostly because I feel like I can't pull with my front teeth. But I can bite off burritos and toast, stuff like t...
