Thanks. FWIW, I had SARPE and then IVRO to finish things off. I was completely wired shut for 6.5 weeks. To date, I have not had one complication.

I haven't had to go through any PT, I guess the numbness doesn't really bother me that much. It's not all numb, just slightly like in the in between of being numb and not =).

Hope your PT goes well though.

after 23 months, here's a pic

I haven't posted on here for a while, but just wanted to show a pic and tell everyone about to go through surgery that it's worth it. I would do it all again even though I have residual numbness on the left side of my chin and lip in a small spot. Just have to get a lower incisor capped, then the te...

For me, the cath was out before I even woke up which was nice. There was no pain from it even while peeing. I will say that it took a while to actually go to the bathroom which I'm sure is normal. Also, another strange thing is that I had air bubbles when peeing for the first couple of days after I ...

Also, I forgot to mention that I had a sliding genio plasty as well. That could account for some of the loss of feeling in the chin that I have. What really shortened my face was the genio and the impaction of the maxilla. God, the more I think of the surgery, the more things I remember I had done. ...

Ok guys maybe I can help shed some light. On the wired vs banded (I was wired shut for 6.5 weeks with splint.) Time being wired shut varies quite a bit but your surgeon should know the progress of the bone growth as he/she should be taking xrays along the way. This way it will ensure that your bone ...

Well like shutitdown, I to cycle quite a bit. I can take in about 5 thousand cals daily and just burn it off. I'm 6ft 160 give or take some lbs. Before the surgery I went through one big jug of 2200 calorie whey weight gainer and it didn't really do much. I'd say I probably gained a couple lbs at be...

Really depends on your body type as to how much you'll lose. Generally, the more extra you have, the more you will lose. It's just the way the body works. In my case I really didn't have any extra to lose, and tried to gain weight before surgery but wasn't able to. Over the course of 6.5 weeks when ...

Helen, are you saying that it took about a year to regain feeling in your lower lip as a result of the genio?
