6 month update and pics!!!!
Hi everyone! I haven't been around in quite some time... probably since shortly after my braces went on. So I'll share a bit of my story with this update. :) Over the summer, I decided that I seriously wanted to look into get braces. It's something I'd wanted for quite some time as I was never happy...

Braced yesterday and having problems. Help!
So, they're finally on. I'm wavering between, "Oh, they're actually kind of cute" and "What the hell was I thinking?" I figure I'll get used to it though and will come to consider my metal mouth normal. ;) Yesterday was pretty easy... probably too easy. I didn't really have any p...

3 Days, 14 Hours, and 40 Minutes!
 That's how long I have until my bonding appointment! Yes, the countdown has begun! I am just filled with a gazillion emotions... fear, anxiety, excitement, elation, nerves, glee... you name it! I'll have a full metal smile with the Damon 3mxs on top and bottom. I'm considering asking about the...

Re: Where should my canine be going??
Since I have quite started my orthodontic journey (and eeeesh... I just realized I need to update my ticker to reflect my rescheduled B-day), I can't help with your question... But I might be able to help with this... (Sorry I have no photo, I'm still in the process of learning how to get them from ...

Actually, only a few states require ortho assistants to be licensed and certified. Traditionally, all ortho assisting training has been done on the job. I guess (for anyone else reading this) if you really want to know if they are certified, you have to ask if they're a COA or not. (As a side note, ...

Putting it off a little
My brace day is scheduled for Thursday, but I'm going to reschedule. I want to get a good cleaning done BEFORE they go on, and my dentist just hasn't been able to get me in. I've tried keeping my appointment so far in hopes that a someone would cancel and they'd call me. Hasn't happened yet, so I'll...

Silly question!
 I don't know what exactly got me wondering about this but... I'm scheduled to get my braces on in 10 days and was thinking about it all a lot. Did any of you get to see your molds? Was anyone given the option of keeping them when treatment was complete? I'm just really curious about my molds, ...

Thanks everyone. I've had four consultations so far and have a brace date set with one orthodontist already. So I know I like the ortho I'm going with and found a plan that covers that practice. So I'm not concerned about the ortho himself... just wondering how the plan might be. It's not dental ins...

Anyone use a discount dental plan?
I've spent much of the evening looking at discount dental plans, and one seems like it may be worth it... It's $104 a year for me as an individual and $159 for family if they want to go in with me (which would be awesome since it splits the cost 4-5 ways). Even for the individual, it might me worth ...

So tired of people's comments
Really, I guess I should be flattered by people's comments, but I'm not. In fact, I'm just plain irritated about it. I'm slowly starting to let people around me know I'm getting braces. I was waiting until I got through some consults and was sure I was doing it. Now that the big deal is quickly appr...

Kinda creepy...
I apologize if this isn't the right board for this. I'm still trying to feel my way around on the site. I've read the stickies about fetishists and everything, and I was kind of shocked by it. But as I was searching photobucket for a sweet braces avatar since I'll be a metal mouth in just 27 days, I...

 I guess you're right. At least nothing was said to be beyond repair or needed surgery to correct. From what I've read so far, the Bite Turbos sound miserable . But if they'll really help my overbite and save off some treatment time, I think I can deal with them. I'm making my b-day preparation...

My B-Day is Scheduled
My brace day is now scheduled... at least tentatively. I had another consult today, and everything seemed great. At first, I wasn't too sure about going to a full orthodontic practice with like 4 or 5 doctors versus the small, personal practice I had a consult with the other day. In a way, I'm a bit...

First consult!
I had my first consult today, and I couldn't be more excited! :D Honestly, it was great. Well, not totally great since I finally got to hear how icky my mouth really is. lol, he said I'm a fairly unique case, but I can't completely remember WHY I'm so unique. But the dx is fairly severe crowding on ...

Thank you both so much for sharing your experience and encouragement. I'm really rather excited still, and there are two weeks yet until my initial consults begin. I don't know how I'm going to stand the wait. :D Again, thank you so much for your insight. If anyone else can weigh in or help with my ...
