I was pretty upset when I got mine on. They were a bit uncomfortable, eating was weird, flossing took forever AND I had huge coil springs on each side of my top arch. I had no idea I was going to be getting those coil springs so it was a big shock and the main reason I was upset.. I cancelled my pla...

Oh that's interesting to know! Thanks for replying. I might have to ask him the next time I'm there. My first adjustment was before 9am so I could barely walk straight let alone make sense hehe. I just get concerned that he might think I'm questioning him. It looks like we're both going through simi...

good question. I have been wondering myself.. From what I understand gap closure works from both ends. Eventually the coil spring will be attached to molars at the back and thereby closing the whole thing. Danish Ahh that would make sense! None of my back molars have any brackets attached to...

Hi Everyone Well I had my first adjustment on Friday, it wasn't painful really but he certainly turned up the pressure!! He said I'd be a grumpy boots by the afternoon but not to call him because he'd be out of town! He took off the springs attached between my two front teeth and canines and p...

I have a question, I'm closing up some gaps on the bottom with springs, similar to what you've got happening at the moment. Once your gaps are closed at the front, won't there still be a gap at the back? or do they move those teeth too? I've been trying to think about how to ask my Orthodontist with...

I have four big gaps closing up where I had second pre-molars extracted. When I had my braces fitted about 6 weeks ago I had springs fitted on the outside of my two front teeth. I had my first adjustment today and the Orthodontist said he's really going to turn up the pressure now, and my gosh he wa...

Hi Martin :) I understand your fear I really really do, in the week before I was going in for surgery I saw a nurse at work who was giving people flu jabs not carrying needles or anything just in her uniform and I felt chills up and down my spine and shuddered, I wasn't even getting a flu shot! When...

Hi there I had 8 teeth out in one go incl wisdoms and while I was terrified at the prospect it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting! I don't have any experience of concious extractions apart from when I was really young having baby teeth taken out. http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=...

I had to have 4 2nd premolars and all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I had them all done at once under general anaesthetic and believe me I was terrified about it for months If I had known that it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting then I would have relaxed a little! I got my braces about 3 weeks ag...

Thanks for your replies everyone :D I've finally given in tonight and popped some wax on after looking at my red raw ulcers on the inside of my bottom lip. This might be a really strange question, but is there anything that can cause decay in orthodontic wax? Do I need to take it off after a certain...

I'm new here but wanted to comment on your journey I've been feeling a little blue since I had my braces fitted because it feels like such a long journey ahead. Looking at the huge changes you've experienced in your arch in less than a year has really given me a lift (especially as I have similar bi...
