Re: December debrace club

I was feeling a little sad on the day before, but now that they're off, there's no looking back. I have bonded retainers on uppers & lowers, and wear an Essix on top at night. We did the impression for the Essix in between debracing the uppers & lowers, and it was ready to take home with me ...

My date is Wednesday 12/8. :D I'm passing the time smiling into the mirror, obsessing over whether I'm REALLY ready for them to come off. Seems like I was much more excited about getting braces than I am about getting them off - after 27 months, they seem to be a part of me now..... :?

I have power chains right now, with no brackets on my last molars on top. The powerchain isn't pulling the teeth from back to front to close gaps. The last molars are still right next to the second molars like they were before. Instead, I believe the powerchain is really pulling everything back towa...

I'm 41, have been braced for 23 months now, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The day I realized I was able to take a bite out of a sandwich with my teeth rather than pulling a piece off with my fingers, I almost cried. They are occasionally uncomfortable, but nothing that some ibuprofen &...

Just came from an adjustment - I have Damon 3's - and there are a couple of doors on the bottom that don't like to open, and no, it's not nearly as pleasant as the when they slide right open. But, then my ortho pulls out a different tool for those - not sure what the difference is, but it doesn't ta...

I was 39 1/2 when I got my braces. I think it's interesting that 30 - 39 is the predominant age in the poll so far. In my case, even though I had been dreaming of braces since I was 12, it took 27 years to get to the point where I could afford to pay for them. It also took my husband going through a...

The only problem with the holidays.....

...is that I need to see my ortho but the office is closed until Jan 4! Somehow my top wire has shifted so far to the left that it's no longer in the last bracket on the right at all. I've tried moving it back, but it's a thick square wire & it won't budge for me. I'm not uncomfortable yet, but ...

amandajane, I think this is a great idea. :D Before braces, my teeth were so crowded it was hard to floss because it just didn't fit between my teeth. Now, even though I have to work around the wires, I can actually floss! :D Before braces, I couldn't bite into foods like sandwiches, or apples, or w...

I have Damons, but also had extractions. The orthodontist I chose (after meeting with four) was the most thorough at consultation, and her staff was the most friendly and informative at consultation. I did not chose the orthodontist based on her use of Damons, but rather these other factors. I trust...

I got elastics about 10 months in, for 8 weeks, but at yesterday's adjustment was told not to use them now. I had several brackets re-positioned yesterday and new wires, so there's a lot of new stuff going on as it is! I'm sure I'll have elastics again before my treatment is complete.

i experienced something similar - i always thought one of my teeth was just turned in really far, but once it straightened out a bit, i realized that it's actually really small & sort of an odd shape - my ortho says I'll probably need some cosmetic dentistry to make it look completely right sinc...

1) First time in braces. Wanted them since I was 12, got them when I was 39. My parents couldn't afford them. So far I am very pleased. It's been 10 months, and I am seeing results. I'm amazed, really.

2) My insurance covered $1500.00 - the rest I saved for on my own.
