It will be the best thing you ever did and you will be so happy. I had my surgery 2 years ago and I also had severe vertical maxillary excess and a very gummy smile and "horse mouth." But I had no chin definition. All the best on your journey and BTW-surgeons love cases like ours. The more...

I was 48. Never thought I was too old either. In fact, I think the older you are when you get it done, the more grateful you will be.

Gained 15 pounds to prepare and lost 20. I knew in advance I would lose more weight than most due to my metabolism.

Actually, I had my gum recontouring during my surgery. The one thing I should mention to you is that the "air gingivitis" caused from the lip incompetence really made a mess of my mouth over the years. Even after my gum recontouring, I still had to have perio work done. I had a deep-root p...

Hi there, your story sounds a lot like mine. I had my surgery almost 2 years ago. Like you, I had severe lip incompetence and a very gummy smile. I had a 6mm impaction(and bsso, genio, turbinectomies and partial septoplasty). The improvement is amazing, however I will tell you that the lip incompete...

Quertz, I don't know about what was said in the personal conversation which took place but I was informed because I was the one who referred him. Maybe nobody cares about him but for what it's worth, many, many people from this board contacted me about him over the past 2 years so there are some peo...

The only way I am personally connected is that I have been the person that many Americans including yourself had contacted to hear my experience...no other way. People contact me because they have no other surgical option(same situation I was in 2 years ago). After I had my surgery after waiting dec...

I agree with everybody about telling him. If he is just a casual friend, then it isn't as important but if he is somebody you think you want a long-term relationship with, then holding back such important information can possibly be perceived as dishonesty. As for talking on the phone...believe me, ...

SC guy, if what you allege is true, why have you been trying to book another surgery with Dr Reiche this past week? I ask that because I had my surgery in Costa Rica and it could not have been better. Dr Reiche performed nothing short of a miracle on me and I highly recommend him and have documented...

My right lower jawline area was much more swollen than the left side. Even as the residual swelling went down, the right side was still puffier for months after but it wasn't really noticeable to anyone but myself. Nothing was wrong, that's just how my body healed. I do agree that heat would probabl...

Welcome! I'm not sure what you mean by "blue hills" but my molar bands all had/have extra protrusions on them both on the inside and outside of each band. I don't know the exact details but I was told they use them when they know you are a surgical case. I know what you mean by your tongue...

Yes, I did have those feelings both when I touched it and when I didn't. I also went through a long phase of hyper-sensitivity where although it was numb, it was also hyper-sensitive to the touch...I know that doesn't sound like it makes any sense but that is what happened with me. Right now, I do h...
