I woke up in extreme pain, choking on blood, and panicking because I couldn't talk. It took hours for the pain to go down, with three or four doses of morphine, and lots of coughing up blood. Not trying to scare you, but my experience sounds worse than most others. It was really, really bad.

Hi there, I have a 20 month old and he didn't seem to notice all that much. I was really worried he would freak out. I have read over on yahoo groups that you should wait 1-2 years after this surgery to have a child, or your bones will not heal properly. You may want to consult your doctor. We want ...

....... I have acu benefits too, although this was paid through chiro for some reason. Maybe because it's not true needle acupuncture. Who knows. I am confident my chiro is not defrauding my insurance company. It's also not terribly expensive judging by the fees my chiro billed my insurance th...

Hi Graceful, No advice on your particular Area/Insurance issues, but let me tell you, my biggest regret is not getting a second opinion in the beginning. I am pretty unhappy with my post-op experience and overall results with my surgeon. Get a second or even third opinion, and do some research into ...

Hi all, just a quick update on my numbness. I am now 12.5 weeks post op and have 95% feeling back in my lip and chin. The only part is just below and on the edge of my bottom lip that is still a little numb. I know it may be coincidence, but I swear the acupuncture therapy helped me regain my sensat...

Hi Ozzysmom, I didn't start the acupuncture until about 5 weeks post op. He started doing adjustments on me at about 6.5 - 7 weeks post op. I don't see how it could hurt to do adjustments sooner, except maybe the laying flat on your face part for the back adjustments. The neck adjustments are done l...

I can't feel my gums either. It's kinda weird when brushing but otherwise I don't mind.

I don't see how it could be the braces because my teeth weren't sensitive immediately before the surgery and I have had braces now for 3.5 years. Also, it's 4 specific teeth. Strange...

Tooth sensitivity after surgery?

Hey guys, how many of you noticed that several of your teeth were highly sensitve after surgery? At about 5 weeks, I started noticing that a couple of my teeth were overly sensitive when brushing, all the way through the root. I was worried that they were becoming non-vital at first, as that is appa...

Acupuncture

I am now 8 weeks post op and am still about 30-40% numb in the lower lip and chin. I have been going to acupuncture (the electrical stimulation kind, not the needle kind) three times a week. I think it has accelerated the process. After treatment, I notice a lot more sensation (pins, tingling, etc) ...

Kaycee, did they tell you how far your midline was off? Do you have pictures that you'd feel comfortable sharing? I'd like to compare with my own, which is off to the left.

Oh my gosh, you poor thing. As disappointed as I am with my results, I don't think I could do it again. Can I ask when your original surgery was? Did the midlines and other assymetry seem to get worse as the swelling went down? Do you have reservations about using the same surgeon? I'd probably get ...

My surgeon said this might be an option for me to help with the gummy smile that he gave me as a result of moving my maxilla forward (argh).

I think it's when they cut part of your gums away and reshape them to make your teeth appear bigger. He said I have small teeth.
