Re: Premolar extractions (how did your face change)

This is sort of an update... I regret getting extractions, period. I re-read my last post here and can't believe I said I was okay getting it done. Sure, it changed some things for the better, but overall I think I could have gotten away with shaving the teeth and giong for a more conservative retra...

Re: Midline Shift.. how to correct?

Pretty much. It was mostly a slant that I had and that was pretty much taken care of too.

I really don't think you can move your jaw with elastics. I think you need surgery for that.

It took a lot longer than I thought I would... I can tell you that much!

Re: What is the BEST way to intrude teeth?

Mattwood, I know exactly your concern. My understanding is that the wire wants to straighten so any bends in the wire will force the teeth to move so there is no more bend. Seems to make perfect sense. However when I get adjustments it never makes any sense when I am looking in my mouth. The right s...

Re: What is the BEST way to intrude teeth?

Nope, nothing except my apologies for confusing you with someone else. So if your orthodontist thought she made a mistake and wanted it fixed why did you let her take them off in the first place? Good luck with that intrusion then. No problem! She made the argument late last year that sometimes it ...

Re: What is the BEST way to intrude teeth?

Wow VA5. You must really, really love braces. If I remember correctly, you had them taken off a few months ago, then placed back on for something you didn't like. Then now you've removed them again and put them back on. All that sanding they are doing on your teeth cannot be good for your enamel. A...

What is the BEST way to intrude teeth?

I was out of braces for... I think it's been at least 2 1/2 months.. . But, I wasn't happy with my smile line.. the curve of the teeth (straight across) while I was smiling didn't follow the curve of my lips (the nice curve upward on both sides) and it looked really weird... it didn't give me a pret...

Re: Post braces and not happy with the curve of my bite

I've seen intrusion/extrusion done with hawleys. It's best if you have a "button" cemented on the tooth and then a spring activated on the button. Just an idea. Not positive, but I can't see that being done with clear or inman aligners That's great to hear. I think I will ask my ortho for...

BracedSurgeryStudent wrote:You could try something called the Inman aligner. its like a hawley but puts pressures to align the front 6 teeth. If not then you can try Hawley.
Is an inman aligner like a retainer?? I don't know a thing about it or what it looks like.

Re: Extraction Gap Reopening?

Hate to say it... I am post braces and my extraction gaps have all opened up slightly. So I have four and they are varying sizes... the bottoms are surprising b/c they were closed for at least 6 months towards the end of my braces, maybe longer than that. I have fixed retainers too but they still op...

Post braces and not happy with the curve of my bite

My bite relation is fine, however what I don't like is that my top canines are extruded too much, while my bottom canines/molar is intruded too much. So the way my bite looks when I smile is not really that nice straight curve, it's more "wavy" than I like. Maybe a dentist here would under...

Re: WHY DID NOONE NOTICE MY LACK OF BRACES (and more issues)

I think differently. Since being debraced, I feel like my teeth are invisible. So nobody notices, and hence I am upset. I am upset b/c my teeth have been retracted so much that you can't even tell the difference between the hardware in my mouth, and without it. It's like a shadow in my mouth when I ...

Re: Whitening

Congrats on getting debraced!! As for the whitening, my ortho gave the the ok to do it right after debanding, but people with gum sensitivity/inflammation should probably wait a few weeks. I first used the Crest 3D 2-hour Express strips. I did see some improvement, but didn't get the results I was ...

Whitening

I was debanded today (yay). I have some white spots on my two front teeth. My ortho said it isn't that noticeable and that I can't do anything about them. However I still think that getting my teeth whitened would help b/c the area near my gums is pretty yellow... yuck. How many of you get your teet...

Re: Permanent Retainer is a PAIN! :(

Wow i didn't know you could wear permanent retainers and removable ones at the same time!? Sounds nasty! WHY??? Why is it nasty sounding? I have my permanent ones on all day, and then at night I put the removable one (essix) on top. It makes sure that the back teeth are aligned correctly. A...
