So, they're finally off. (I suppose 16 months doesn't really warrant the term "finally" but anyway) Last Monday (24th May) I went to the ortho to have them off. It was really weird as I had convinced myself that I wasn't having them off. I am still slightly uncertain about whether I should...

I had mine off on 24th May and my teeth, on the top right hand side are VERY sensitive. I guess it takes a while for them to settle down. I think we have to remember that the retension phase is just as much part of the process as the actual bracing. :D

My ortho said I should wear them at night but I have started wearing them 24/7 because the tops feel really tight if I don't wear my retainers for a day AND I seem to have a gap that opens up gradually the longer my retainers are off for. I think we should decide!!! I sure as hell am not gonna let t...

I AM FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I had my braces off today. Back tomorrow for retainers. My teeth are more amazing than I could ever have hoped for. They look great considering that I have no lateral incisors. I am really happy!! I never dreamed they could be this straight and my bite would end up this good. It is still ever so sli...

Well I just told my class the truth about my teeth and actually managed to link it in with an assembly that I did for the whole school as well so they all know! Just explain, they probably won't bat an eyelid! :D

Here are mine: 1. Remember to remove elasitics BEFORE eating so you don't end up wondering why your pasta is so chewy. 2. Don't wear plaits in your hair and a t-shirt with a cartoon character while you have braces or people will think your boyfriend is your Dad. 3. Don't even try biting into an Appl...

I wasn't sure elastics would work.

I got an elastic on the left hand side of my bite on Friday to close it (my ortho is happy with the other side). Initially when I got the elastic on I was dubious about whether it would do anything. It didn't feel particularly tight like I'd expected. I also felt that when I did bite down it felt un...

Yes, my ortho is going to shape them and if I still don't think they look good enough, I'm going to get bonding or veneers but he said to try that first and see what I think.

Well I went for my umpteenth adjustment today. Didn't have much done that was different. My teeth are now pretty much straight and my ortho just needs to close my bite on one side so I have an elastic on the side that needs closing. Then other side is pretty much perfect. He has given me lots of ela...

Don't worry I've had one tooth that has reacted like that at two separate junctures of my treatment. I know it's horrible but it will subside.

Unfortunately I too did experience one very painful night after my extractions. I thought I had a dry socket but I didn't - dread to think what one would actually have felt like!! Hope u feel better x

I had 4 teeth out, 2 premolars, 1 baby canine and 1 lateral incisor (my case is a bit weird). I had a local and it was a bit uncomfortable but didn't really "hurt" exactly. I too am a teacher and went back to work the next day. Luckily I had student teachers in my class at the time and the...

I don't think it makes much difference which you have.
By the way, my teeth sound like they were very similar to yours - missing one lateral (the other horrible and peg-shaped) and still had a baby canine next to the adult canine.

I think they make clear damon braces now aswell so you can get completely clear self-ligating which removes the need for ligs. sigh - wish I'd had them!
