drpotter- It's good that your ortho told you this right up front, wish mine had. It's possible he didn't realize there would be space. Did you just get your braces on? Good luck with your process! Maybe you won't end up needing anything after all when you're all done, fingers crossed! rolo- Thanks f...

It's such a relief to know I am not the only one going through this. drrick- you bring up a great point. Braces are great at aligning teeth but not changing tooth shape. Wish they were great at doing both :-) rolo- What is IPR? Thanks again everyone, all your comments and suggestions are a huge help!

Thank you all for the information. It's a little disapointing that you go through the whole process of braces and don't get the perfect results you were hoping for but I also know my orthodontist is not a magician. He can't reshape all my teeth so they are all the same size! Big bummer! I will defin...

Veneers or Other Option to Close Remaining Space Post Braces
Hi There, I have been in braces for almost two years and believe that my time might be coming to an end soon! I had to get 4 teeth pulled (one on each side and top and bottom) to make room due to overcrowding. The spaces from where the teeth were pulled have closed up. Unfortunately my top teeth are...

I always get excited when I see other adults in braces! Makes me think that we're in this secret little club and only we can understand what it's all about- ha ha! I was at a small party a couple of weeks ago and someone else there had braces. We turned the entire conversation over to our teeth and ...

I agree with beth1966. When I first got my braces on I lost about 6 pounds (due to braces, extractions, 2 months of straight travel for work and a sinus infection). I have always been skinny skinny and the weight loss did not help. I had a couple of people tell me they could see it in my face. I hav...

Smile2006-- Does your husband have a single brother??? And I do have to agree with Beth1966... I think guys carry them off better. Now that I have them, I notice teeth, and braces, so much more! I have met a handful of men who have them (through work, volunteering, etc...) and they just don't ...

For anyone who doesn't have the $$$ to buy a pricey electric toothbrush (we all know the braces are pricey enough) I have been using Vitality by OralB and it's only $30 or so. I know it doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the more expensive ones but I always get nice compliments on my brushin...

Hey Kallisandra! How's it going? Is your mouth feeling ok? It will get better I promise. It's going to be tough eating for the first couple of days. I would stick to soup, pudding, ice cream... soft foods. But you'll feel back to normal in no time, promise! If I can do it, ANYONE can do it  Y...

For All the Single Ladies... and Men-- Dating with Braces
Just wanted to see how you (someone who is single) has gone about dating and going out to bars and whatnot and meeting people. I am 32, single, and have had braces for the last 8 months. I had 4 teeth pulled (next to canines) so rigth now I have 4 gaping holes that are very noticeable when I smile. ...

I went into a treatment which supposed to be finished in 18-24 months but has taken me nearly 4 years all because my extraction gaps are closing every so slowly 4 years??? I'm so sorry!! That does not sound like fun! I was given the same sentence, 18-24 months, and am crossing my fingers it...
