Debracing June 28th!!!!!

Ok, I'm trying to hold down my excitement because my ortho hasn't been very good about estimates thus far, but I FINALLY have a de-bracing date! After 26 months of Invisalign and 6 months of ceramics/metal I am supposed to get debraced on June 28th! Whoo hoo! Of course, I am compromising a bit. I st...

Third Adjustment Today - OOOOUUUUCCCHHHH

Ok, so today I had my third adjustment (or my 70-somethingth if you count the 26 months I did in Invisalign changing top and bottom trays every two weeks!). Today, they put on stainless steel size 16 wires, which they said would be the last wires I would have. The assistant warned me that they would...

Ok, so I tried the aspirin...

and you know, I think it worked. I got a baby aspirin and dissolved it on the infamous Canker That Ate Milwaukee and now it doesn't hurt anymore. Of course, I may puke from the taste, but you gotta take what you can get, right? Thanks for all of the suggestions. If this turns out to be a short term ...

I have a canker sore the size of Idaho!

Ok, this is ridiculous. I finally get my ortho to cut off the offending hook on my left bottom braces that was jamming into my cheek repeatedly and now I've developed a HUGE canker sore with it's own area code on my right inside cheek. I've tried everything, salt water, gly-oxide, perolyx, Biotene.....

first adjustment today

I went to have my first adjustment today (got the upper ceramincs on in January and the lower metals on last month). My ortho is very happy with my progress but did drop a small bomb on me. He said that my crossbite on the left side would likely not resolve completely, nor would my midline misalignm...

Actually, my top teeth are the problem. The bottom teeth will never need a new wire after this one as they were almost perfect (after 26 months of Invisalign). I think the only reason he put brackets on them was to have a place to hook rubber bands for the top. Hence my frustration...I want the tops...

Newly Braced - After 26 months of Invisalign

Hey all! Well, I finally bit the bullet. After 26 months of Invisalign (with the promise of another 15 at least), I decided to go ceramic/metal to get finished in 6-8 months. I had the upper ceramics (with wire ties) put on one month ago and the bottom metal (with silver ligs) put on Monday. The upp...

Jeff, Sorry I can't help with your full success story, but I did want to chime in with you on your reply to Johnny's Angel...I paid $5k for invisalign with the promise that I could avoid braces. It's now been 25 months and I am getting braces to finish treatment this month. I am not amused about it,...

Eeek. Ok, surgery is just out of the question as far as I'm concerned, but I think you're right about the second opinion. Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick response Dr. J. One additional question: What kinds of things would one do to correct asymmetry and width imbalance? In any event, it sounds to me like a second opinion is in order at this point, rather than jumping from the frying pan into the fire...

Drs Randal and J - need a 2nd opinion @ getting 2nd opinion

Drs Randall and J, It's me, that pesky girl who's been wearing invisalign for forever once again with another pressing question. Today, at my scheduled visit with my ortho, he dropped the bomb on me that he thinks that if we switch to regular braces, I can be done with treatment in 4-5 months (rathe...

Invisaguy, I don't think that the issue is with Invisalign per se, but rather with peoples expectations of what it can do. I have been in mine for 2 years now and, don't get me wrong, my teeth look much better than when I started. I can see where you might be very happy with yours. However, that bei...

Invisalign Question

Howdy Docs! Thanks for taking a moment to read (and hopefully answer) my question. I'm currently in my 24th month of Invisalign treatment. I went through my first 32 aligners and needed a mid-course revision and am now on my 18th aligners of the "revised" set of trays (with one more to go ...
