Re: Mentalis Muscle Strain??

Hi there! I have the exact same issue. I realize you posted this a couple years ago; how did your surgery go? I believe I had mentalis strain slightly before my surgery, but it is definitely worsened over time. My jaw surgery was over 10 years ago and my sliding genioplasty was approx. 5 years ago. ...

SLIDING GENIOPLASTY - Take Two

Hello! I had sliding genioplasty about a year ago and I am looking to get another one. Is there anyone out there who has been a bit disappointed with the results the first time around, and went back for a second one? would it be better to go to another maxillofaical surgeon, or should I opt for a pl...

I would go for the sliding genio, like others said on here it tends to have more satisfactory results, plus its permanent. It lasts a life-time, its not like chin implants which you may have to get replaced after about 10 years or so. It doesn't look like you have any lip incompetence or mentalis st...

Sliding Genioplasty again?? PLEASE help me!

I had sliding genioplasty (advancement of 7mm), which was performed by my oral surgeon, about 9 months ago. Previous to that I also underwent Jaw surgery. Anyway, I have always been very very self conscious about my receding chin... and although the jaw surgery and sliding genioplasty have improved ...

I had upper and lower jaw surgery 2 and a half years ago, which somewhat corrected my weak chin and disproportion on my face. In Decemeber this past year I had another check-up appointment with my oral surgeon for my jaw surgery, and thats when he decided to do the sliding genio, because there was s...

oh and as for the bed ridden question... I was pretty well, I didn't go anywhere aside from work and school. I suppose after a couple weeks you could go out if you wanted to, but I doubt you would feel up to it. I know I constantly felt weak because of the liquid diet, and you will likely lose a lot...

I had upper and lower jaw surgery as well and was wired shut for a month and a half. At times it was pretty difficult to speak, and I quickly learned how to "yell" on paper to my family members lol but after about 2 weeks maybe (I dont quite remember the specifics, I had my surgery more th...

Mentalis Strain AFTER Sliding Genio!

hi everyone! i'm new to this board :) I had sliding genioplasty 2 weeks ago to correct my mentalis strain and recessed chin. It's always been hard for me to close my lips without straining to keep them closed, which in turn made my chin creased up and bumpy. I had my chin moved forward a total of 7m...
