Woe and Triumph – Neptune’s Tale

Better late than never, right? As I near the end of my treatment, I decided to finally document my experience before it’s all over. Sure, I’m doing it the illogical way, one day (I hope!) before getting disbanded, but I’m trudging ahead nonetheless. I decided to get braces to address some issues I h...

Wow...that was depressing. I'm so sorry about that -- I think I just took my reply to you as an opportunity to vent. If I think about it hard enough, things aren't that dire. It's just that I'm more than ready to move on to a new phase of life. How are you doing? Any news on how your treatment will ...

Hi Flaka! My treatment is going...alright. It's a two steps forward, one step back type of thing. :) Recently, the left side of my arches started to line up, but then the ortho decided to on closing the gaps in my lower arch, and that effort pushed things off course a bit. (My ortho closes my lower ...

Hi Blake24.

I, too, have the same baby tooth as you, except on both sides of my lower arch. Off the top of my head, I don't recall anyone on this forum whose ortho decided to leave their premolar baby teeth in -- it's refreshing to see that I'm not alone. :)

I generally have a high pain tolerance - when something is "forced" it usually results in "pain" of some sort until you get used to it. Simple as that. In fact, I'm usually really surprised to hear that other people are surprised that having braces results in either sharp moments...

Hi blackapple . That sensation you're feeling is the pressure of your two front teeth that are now touching each other. As someone who also used to have a gap, it was REALLY WEIRD to suddenly not be able to force a large volume of air through the space between my teeth. It's something you'll get use...

Hey Flaka. I've read a few comments of yours lately where you say you've been in braces for 30 months. Each time I thought, wow, that's a long time. Then it hit me -- you were braced within a week that I was braced, so it means that I've been in braces 30 months as well! Where's the smiley with the ...

Hi Flaka, I'm sorry to hear about your recent turn of events. :: hugs :: You've had quite a journey with braces so far. I hope your doctor will be able to make the transfer to a new doctor in a different country a little bit easier (both financially and treatment-wise) given the circumstances. Maybe...

BracedVeryLate, you've got quite a ways to go after the braces experience is over. You are more deserving of frustration than I! I just re-read my post and I sound so bitter!! Thanks for sympathizing, Laney'sBraces and BracedVeryLate -- it felt really good to get that sentiment off my chest! I'm jus...

I'm at the 2 and 1/2 year mark and I've been bored for maybe a year, and DEFINITELY for the last 6-10 months. What's significant about that amount of time? Well, nothing was happening. In order to address a specific location where my teeth meet, the ortho moved brackets, bent the archwire, removed t...

Your commentary on retainers is appreciated. I'm not in the retainer-wearing phase of this experience just yet, but I have often figured that it would be best to have both sets for the reasons you cited. It can sort of be compared to wearing contacts during the day, but wearing glasses in the evenin...

Congratulations on finishing your braces treatment, on getting married, and on look great in your glasses! (On seeing your first debraced picture, I thought, "Those are great glasses -- oh yeah, nice smile too!")

There's lot's of new in your life. Enjoy it all.

Don't think I want to talk to you about braces JUST BECAUSE the both of us are wearing braces. I never needed/wanted to talk to you before... To other braces wearers (and to the person I reference in the sentence above): Don't go into EXTRA DETAILED conversations about yours (or my) braces in group ...

Hi Squara square face ...you're not alone. Since I got braced at 25 I've been in one long term relationship and dated (and kissed a few...) more guys in the last two years than I ever did before braces. Now, I really don't think this has anything to do with the braces themselves, I think it's like t...

Re: Is my bite ever going to be corrected?

I just wonder if my bite will ever be normal and if anybody feels like this at this stage of the treatment. I try to stay positive but there are times where I just want to be over with this. Hi Flaka, I'm struggling through this right now. I have just passed my 2 year mark; I was initially given an...
