Hey there, I just got caught up on your story. I appreciated you stopping by my story, so I wanted to see what you're up to. A lot as it turns out! Wow! The movement you're experiencing is amazing! You're going to have all kinds of room for your teeth to move into. How are you feeling now? Are you u...

Thanks Mike and BracketRacket - I'm really hoping this fixes my bite, too!

I found a website for the equipment my dentist is using. You can check it out of you're curious.

Hey Ken, so today is retainer and torture device day for you? I hope you can tolerate the torture device! Hopefully the retainers won't be too bad though, once you're used to them. I'm curious to hear what you think of all this once you get the appliances and can try them out. Let us know how you're...

Mike, thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I really appreciate your support. I went to the dentist today, and I have to say that I'm feeling really hopeful right now. He has some impressive equipment and techniques he uses to evaluate my bite, so I don't feel like it's a hit or miss type of appro...

Hey Ken, I'm just catching up and realizing you're brace-free now. Awesome! I'm really happy for you. When is your next visit with your perio? I'll be curious to see if your braces removal has any impact on your periodontal situation. Retainers take a little getting used to, don't they? It wasn't th...

Hey Ken, I'm wondering if you had a chance to talk to your perio. I'm curious to hear what she says. I went to my perio today. He checked my bite very thoroughly, so I was happy about that. He concluded that I have a bad bite on my left side, and he asked about the clenching and grinding again. I kn...

Mike, Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. It really does help to have people to share my story with. I know that you get what’s happening to me, and how disappointing and scary it can be. Ken, You’re saying no one’s talked to you about a link between clenching and perio pockets? That’s pretty in...

Thanks Ken, the setback has been a disappointment. I had the second half of my scaling and root planing procedures done today. I'm feeling like I just threw away $$$ on all of this, though. My hygienist kept saying everything was clean, and she's not finding hardly any plaque on my teeth, there was ...

Hi Ken, I'm just catching up to your story and your fantastic news! It seemed like this day would never get here for you, I'm so happy it's finally almost here! I had to look up "tongue rake" to see what it is, and I can understand why you're nervous about it. I don't really understand wha...

Another Delta Dental subscriber here, and they paid $1500 of my bill. For a while I had dual coverage through my husband's employer, but they would only pay ortho for kids under 18. So I'm feeling lucky that I got any help at all.

I think you're smart to listen to your instincts on this dentist, and to go for a second opinion. You need to be comfortable with your dentist since you will be relying on him/her to advise you on the dental care you need to keep your teeth for a lifetime. If the second dentist finds that you have p...

Congratulations Rob - Woo Hoo!!!!! You have a lovely new smile, you must be very pleased. And now you can play your trumpet without interference from braces. Yay! I noticed you have a bonded retainer on your upper teeth. Why did your ortho do that? I'm curious because my ortho didn't want to g...

So I had my first of two scaling and root planing procedures today. (By "first" I mean of this round. I've had this procedure before.) The only thing I'm feeling now is the tenderness of the shots. The procedure isn't really that bad. The second half gets done on the 17th. Then a month lat...

Hmm... I was told something very different. I was told that clenching is bad and to avoid doing it. I was also told that my teeth shouldn't touch at rest, and I should keep them slightly apart. This advice came from my periodontist, so maybe it's specific to periodontal patients? Still, I've always ...
