Gingivitis is an early stage of gum disease. It first appears as inflammation of the Gingiva (Gums). If left untreated, Gingivitis can weaken and degrade the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth. Gingivitis is caused by Plaque, which builds up on your teeth due to improper brushing after meals.
If your Dentist diagnoses you with Gingivitis, don’t worry; it can be reversed at this early stage with proper care. If it is not treated, your condition may progress into Periodontal Disease, which can lead to permanent damage to your gums and teeth.
