Coil Springs

November 22, 2019 By Lynn Schneider; Editor, ArchWired.com

Coil_Spring

Coil Springs are used to close, open, or maintain space between teeth. They are either attached to your arch wire, or attached to the hooks on your braces brackets.

There are three types of Coil Springs:

  • Open Coil Springs are used to create or open up space between teeth.
  • Closed Coil Springs are used to close space between teeth.
  • Passive Coil Springs are used to maintain a space between teeth.

Your Orthodontist may use Coil Springs in conjunction with other devices to help bring your teeth into their proper positions, and your bite into its proper alignment.
