A Cephalometric X-ray (Ceph for short) help to diagnose problems of the head, neck and jaw for issues that may be interfere with proper facial and oral development. A Ceph X-ray is similar to a Panoramic X-ray, but instead of using a 360 degree non-stop motion to capture the image, it uses a side-to-side sweeping motion. Dentists, Orthodontists, and Oral Surgeons might use a Ceph X-ray to diagnose TMJ problems, explore the reasons for tooth misalignment, get a clear look at your teeth and their roots, or plan your orthodontic treatment. Cephs can be performed as either digital scans or film scans.
