A Buccal Tube is a small metal part on the outside of a Molar Band which contains a slot for attaching orthodontic devices. A Buccal Tube can help to attach Arch Wires, Lip Bumpers, Facebows and other devices or appliances that your orthodontist uses to move your teeth. It is sometimes called a Headgear Tube. If the brackets on your Molars contain a Buccal Tube, don’t worry; it doesn’t necessarily mean that your Orthodontist plans to put you in Headgear. It is very common for Molar brackets to have a Buccal Tube merely for the Arch Wire (and no other reason).
