Hello everybody.
I'm having my RPE removed in 2 months (already had it on for 4 months) and I'm terrified at the thought that I might have cavities under the bands. I believe that I did my best brushind around them, flossing, I am also using GUM soft picks and ACT fluoride mouthwash. The reason I believe I might have cavities is because everytime I floss around them I can smell something that just ain't right? I cannot see any cavities and I have no pain at all. Can anybody help me? Am I exagerating? |

I just had the RPE bands on my premolars removed this past week. (they cut that part out, but the rest of it will stay in for another 3 months or so). I think I might have gotten one cavity on one of the premolars . Right after they took it out and I flossed that whole area was bleeding and there seemed to be some food stuck there . I think there is a dark spot on one of the premolars, not sure if it's a cavity yet. I hope yours turns out better. I'm a bit worried about having the molar bands on the molars for the whole time I'm in braces. I tried to keep it as clean as I could with brushing, flossing, the waterpik... _________________ http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=30610

Felicia,
Boy you have a lot of questions!!! Just Kiddin. I would invest in a water pick. When I got my expander my Ortho recommended it and let me tell you, what a difference. If you get one, brush, clean, rinse ect. like you always do. Then, use the water pick on, around and inbetween your teeth and you'll be amazed at how much you have missed with the routine you think is getting your teeth clean. I didn't have any cavities when my expander was removed, but I'm a little anal retentive when it come to cleaning these puppies!

I'm worried I have a cavity in my back molar. I just see a hole but there is no pain or bleeding. I use an electric toothbrush, waterpik, and floss and mouthwash. I think the hole has been there b4 but just need to be more careful about cleaning that area. I just hope it doesn't get worst! _________________
