Renee's Brace Journey

#1 Post by wisebonzai »

Well, I posted 3 days after I got my braces, which you can view at viewtopic.php?p=220416&highlight=#220416 and I am going to start sending in updates.

First off, I'm 43 now, not 42, and had a birthday. My braces have been on since October 25, 2007, and it's March 3, 2008, some 4 months after.

I don't have any "original photos" to post, but I will get the intake images next time I go to my doctor's office, and will put them up so you can see the beginning images.

I do not have a lot of room in my mouth, have small teeth, a very high pallet and overcrowding ontop of not having much of a jaw. I can't do the surgery, but opted to at least fix my overbite and to stop lisping.

My entire life, I have had a small lisp. It's not that noticeable, but I hear it.

I have posted photos today for you of the 4 month images of me in braces. I will try to find some prior images I had taken, also, so you can see how much the teeth have moved.

Here are the current images. I will keep you updated and will post often as I can.

The main thing is the eye teeth stick out and the bottom four teeth were inside the ring, instead of aligned. They were all inside...as if falling down.

I realize we are going backwards, but here are some 12/2007 and 1/2008 images I found and clipped my teeth out of so you can see how bad they were.

This was some 2 months after the initial onset of the braces, before banding in the rear of the mouth.

Sorry for all the posts. New at this type of forum, however I will get the hang of this.

Here are the side by side frontal images in a timeline.

Update

#5 Post by wisebonzai »

May 16 update. Today, I got some new brace colors. I changed from bubblegum to a new aqua color which I truly, already hate, lol.

Aqua, for informational purposes, gives the teeth a really neat YELLOW-GREEN hue.

Ew.

Here they are. They put in new bars to move them forward, and in the process, although the teeth are now straight, they were apart quite a bit.

I had just got the chain put on the lower teeth, and took the photo about 2 hours later, and they had almost entirely closed by then.

Here the photos are of the updated movement.

My mouth was fully closed in the frontal bite image. See the gap? THAT is from sucking a baby bottle way too long!

Now I smile, and it gaps till they fix it.

Here is the other view.

See how much the bottom has already moved? My goodness! I hope to see that gap gone soon.

Now, that is fast movement. Somehow I didn't post the photos between March and April. Those show the teeth spread out so nicely...they have a gap comparable to the gap in the middle of my teeth 2 days ago, however, they were already closed (yep, that fast) from the time I drove from the ortho, to stop to take photos...a couple/few hours and the gaps were all gone except the middle one and as you can see, that's almost done also.
