Welp, I guess the day did finally come where I can eat solids. I don't look forward to it.. and I have yet to eat a hamburger from IN-N-OUT or a burrito. But, I have had sandwiches with the softest bread .. (can't always eat the crust)... and thin crust pizza. I'm still mostly on soup, but I'm willing to eat some things and just do a heck of a cleaning job afterwards.

I'm finding that I clench my teeth a lot at night and at times, I've hit the brackets inadvertently, which really freakin' HURTS!! I am still counting the days off that I can bite and chew normally and have no worries with the brackets.

OMG you have not had an IN- N -OUT burger, You poor thing. I dream about those burgers. i asked my family to bring me one home from Arizona LOL. I have not been to one in 2 years and I think I need to plan my next trip around whether they have In-n-Out.

Wow I could not imagine not being able to eat that long. I would get VERY grumpy but very skinny. Good luck. Let me know how that burger tastes.

I'm not a huge hamburger fan, but I do love IN-N-OUT! Cheeseburger, animal style. Best Ever. I may try and get one this weekend. Just have to cut it up in bite size pieces. I guess I'm lucky, I have one right by my house.. it's the only place where it's always packed, even at 11pm.

I'm getting skinny and it sucks :( This weekend, I'm going to try and pack back the pounds I've lost. Then I gotta work out and maintain.

I'm hoping I get these buildups off at the end of June.

Sorry to hear about the trouble eating. I remember i had the exact same problem once the bottoms got on. But i can damn well assure you that there will come a time when bitting is going to be easy. My lowers were far crowded and now they look like little soldiers getting in line.

So take it easy, and you go get that cheeseburger and those pounds back! >.> No need to be losing weight if it is not needed or wanted. Good luck!

I can't wait for the day where biting will be easier. Did you have buildups? If so, are they gone now?

Glad to hear that your teeth are moving well!! :D I'm hoping mine do too.. I don't have pain anymore, so I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Yeah, I don't want to lose weight, I'm thin as it is.. now I just look tiny. :/

Yeah i had,i got used to them and they seemed to be getting better after the cleaning i had on friday...which was pain for my gums, but at least they are back to the pink color.

Im in the same situation, very very thin, my ortho actually scolded me because she said i got thinner the past month. She told me i need to be careful because not eating right will make my health go down, including the gums. She suggested taking vitamins when im in too much pain to eat properly.

I have molar buildups, but I've been eating "normal" foods for a long while now. I do find it easier to cut things like sandwiches up. It's a total mess if I just bite in to it. I ordered a sub last week which was a huge mistake! Couldn't really bite in to it, so I had to cut it up and it took me an hour to eat. I do eat very, very slowly since it takes me a long time to get food chewed properly with only two touch points. When I'm in a hurry I end up not doing a good enough job which probably isn't so hot for the digestion!

I'm eagerly waiting for the buildups to come off, but I can see that I'll have bracket clashing still if they do. Bummer.

@Plumcore, I take vitamins, which is a good idea. I'm finding that if I eat certain foods on them, makes me teeth hurt biting down on the buildups. How long have you had them now?

@threescompany, yeah... have to eat slowly and then I tend to try to get all the food out of the brackets. How long have you had them?

The braces? 5 months..almost 6 now. >.> Waiting for my lowers to get in place so she can start working on the actual bite. Which is probably why she told me to get xrays for the next adjustment.

Actually, I meant the buildups :) I'm hoping that it's not too bad..

Yeah, I'm not sure how or what my ortho is going to do to fix my deep bite... I can see my lower teeth now (but I'm wondering if it's due to the buildups, since I can't bite down all the way) and one of my bottom teeth has straightened out! The only part where I can visually see a change -- the wire isn't bent anymore.

I know what you mean about having trouble eating.

That was one of the thing I wish I ate before getting my spacers in was In-N-Out. There is one 20 minutes from me and I planned on eating there before my braced. Didn't realize that at my X-ray appointment, they were putting spacers in. Long story short, my teeth were killing me and I was never brave enough to go. Hopefully before my 1st adjustment I work up the courage.

Let me know how your animal style cheeseburger is.

Oh. I think they are gone now...actually i think im a bit confused as to what the buildups are...>.< my bad. I don't think they are what i thought, like the excess material that was over the back molars...

My lowers are also showing but that is because i have one molar that is nowin place and prevents me from closing all the way, although it got better now.

@TinkB, I didn't go last weekend :/ I might brave it this weekend.. but I know this is terrible.. and all.. but I got McDonald's instead. Their cheeseburgers are flat enough and easy to eat. I do want IN-N-OUT, but I know it's going to be harder then heck to eat. I didn't get spacers, but I heard that it gets better!

@Plumcore, the buildups is that excess cement that they put on your back molars to keep your bite from closing all the way.. did you grind them down? I clinch a lot, so am thinking that they are getting smaller. But, I keep thinking when they're gone.. that I won't mind eating anything afterwards!

My first real full "meal" after getting braced was about a week after, and it was MCDONALD'S! I had a burger, fries and a coke. You would've thought I'd never eaten those things in my life, the way I savored them. I wish we had an In-N-Out Burger here in Hawaii; I've heard they're FAB!
