Was this supposed to happen?

This story begins on a rainy day in Colorado. After sloshing through the puddles and getting my feet wet :yuck:. I arrived at my Ortho's office to get my bracket replaced (check out yesterday's adventure). I got all checked in and in no more than 5 minutes I was called back. I looked around at the other patients and waited some more. For some strange reason the ortho assistant was taking quite sometime to get her station set up to fix my bracket. Finally the moment of truth came. I got comfortable and got a pair of cool googles to wear so the etchant would wreck my glasses and in went the separators and that tongue thingy. What did the ortho assistant do? She started working on my lower row! What the h-e double hockey sticks?!!!

I guess she couldn't understand me asking, "Urh wurin ah eh ouer oh?" It gets worse. She stuck this cylinder shaped gauze between my lower lip and gums to keep my lip away from my teeth. While she was working on the further back lowers I didn't mind it. When she got to the front for some reason she transformed from being a regular ortho assistant into "Senorita Man Hands"Image. I thought I was being punished for some reason. Senorita Man Hands kept pressing down on the gauze holding my lip I'm positive she didn't hear it when it said "Ih urnh!" because she kept on with her business. So what did I do?

I curled my toes and took it like a woman! I didn't want any of those kids to see me cry. Thankfully it didn't last too much longer. I then was freed from that cursed piece of gauze and those lip separators that didn't do their job and I got to rinse my mouth out. I chose water because I know that listerine would have burned the crap out of my new wound. I had to remind Senorita Man Hands that I had originally came to get my bracket fixed and she says. "Oh! I can fix...you can get that fixed at you next appointment." Ummmk...so she clipped the lone standing wire and put my ties and lower wire on. (my grill is hot pink now :)).

Senorita Man Hands proceeded on to the next step THE SPACERS!!! Might I add she's so very strong! After making an attempt to get a rubber spacer in between the tight space between my teeth and failing she says "I don't know how you floss girl!" Then I was reminded of my previous post. Tisk, Tisk.

The matter was escalated to metal spacers and then...I went home. I got something really cool from this visit! An awesome blister on my lip and gums! It can't get any better than this!!!

Hey, hey PrincessPeach and Emms!!!

That was rude!!! I'm gonna have permanent scars from Senorita Man Hands. She had no idea that I wanted to bite her fingers but that tongue thingy (I have no clue what its called :)) was blocking the opportunity. :x

Thank you Emms!!! For the compliment and condolences. You :rawk:!

I need a hot pack for my face. I'm in pain!!!

Well...since I was man handled by Senorita Man Hands, these past fews days have been wrecking havoc on my well being darn it! I've came up with a new motto:

"If I can't just swallow it, I ain't eatin it!"

On my way to class yesterday (I'm getting Web Design Certified! Whoo Hoo!!) I stopped by Burger King to get a large fry. I figured hey, they're soft and chewy, why the heck not! And I got some Honey Mustard dipping sauce - Say what you will but it was quite tasty - to soften them even more. When I got to school I sat in the Lobby and snacked. I don't know how I even considered this but I figured I could finish all those fries in 6 minutes so I could get upstairs to check my emails since I had a little over 1/2 an hour to spare. Ummmm...It took 10 to get 1/4 of them eaten. I tried eating them during my break in class and got about 5 fries down before break was over. By then they were cold I didn't care what they tasted like, I was friggin hungry. So instead of finishing the fries I put them in my back pack...and left them until morning. Many thanks to exhaustion, my back pack smells like a truck stop.

These blasted metal spacers are evil!!! Whenever I chew they remind me of their presence in my mouth by digging their heels into my gums. And to think Senorita Man Hands said they wouldn't be AS uncomfortable as the rubber spacers. What a crock!

Now about Senorita Man Hands
Did I mention she NEVER had braces before? :yikes: May I also add that, that is not a good conversation to have with your colleagues when your working on a patient who currently suffering from Orthodontic anguish? :soremouth: No wonder she didn't mind continually pressing on that gauze.
Someone needs to strap her in a chair and torture her with lip separators and gauze so she can feel the burn!!!Image

Thanks to the devices Senorita Man Hands used to torment me, I have a raw sore on my lower gums (umm ummm good!). It hurts like the dickens! Couple that pain with metal spacers, moving teeth, aching gums, and bracket hook snagging (even my uppers are giving me grief)and you've mastered the experience of Buckey!!!

Oh man XD After my molds were taken I had scrapes on my gums from the metal trays that were used, and that the assistant blissfully pressed on, unaware of my pain. I think they used adult trays, which only barely fit in my petite mouth :( Ouch!!

Takako...Welcome!!!

Don't you just love it when they don't pay attention when you flinch or say "AHW!" <<I don't know anyone who speaks clearly when they have foreign objects in their mouth. Did your scars clear up quick? That is cruel and unusual punishment for them to try to fit something into your mouth that WON'T fit. The prices we pay to achieve a beautiful smile and a good bite. Maybe the ortho assistants should take a course on how to read muffled language. Even better if they would take their eyes off of our mouths for a moment and look at the horror in our eyes...

I'd like to stop and take a hiatus from mouth pain and say....OOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHH!!!

Ok...I'm back now.

These last few days have been Hades. This is the first time in the 2 weeks and 1 day that I've had braces that I feel like clawing these bad boys out to massage and scratch my poor gums.

That is, if I don't OD on Aspirin before that happens. :D

What amazes me right now is I actually have spaces between my front lower teeth. Who'da thought! I was positive these spacers were going to cause my front bottom teeth to crowd. Instead, they are bullying my unsurfaced wisdom teeth into submission.

Spacers say: "Bow to me or feel my WRATH!!!"

I don't think my wisdom teeth bowed. :soremouth:

Muscle relaxers anyone???

I was a flake this past Friday. I had to get up at 4 in order to get to work at 6. I can be kind of a grump early in the morning as well...

I still had to get up at 4 this morning to get to work at 6 and my eyes are burning with exhaustion but this should wake me up...along with a caffeinated beverage :).

My last post I mentioned tooth pain, the post before that one I mentioned the cruel and unusual punishment of Senorita Man Hands. Today well...something interesting happened on Friday.

All of those who got the upper row first and the bottom row later on down the line can probably relate to a portion of this story.

I call it Taco Hell

Friday. I was starving and sick of eating soft foods. It was lunch time and I had a can of soup that really didn't look appetizing. I wanted something with at little texture to eat. Normally in my department we order out on Fridays. We decided on Mexican. We tried one restaurant but their prices we a little high and the boss suggested Taco Bell. I haven't ate Taco Bell in years because I like REAL fast food. Nothing genetically altered please (kidding ). Anywho. The boss took our orders and picked it up. I ordered 1 Supreme chicken burrito and 2 chicken soft tacos because my lowers would not put up with me trying to chew something crunchy.

Sadly, the lowers would not put up with me chewing anything chewy either . I looked like I had some real mental issues trying to eat those burritos. After attempting to bite like I normally do (yeah, idiot) I got fed up and tried cutting the burrito. That irritated me so I began to brake pieces off of it. I managed to finally get some food into my mouth and I was ecstatic! My stomach would finally stop giving me the verbal beat down.

Little did I know, tortilla loves wires and brackets. Tortilla wants to be one with wires and brackets. Tortilla kept getting stuck under my wire and between my brackets :x. Every time I chewed and swallowed I'd have to search my mouth for hidden pieces of tortilla just so I wouldn't offend someone who wanted to talk to me between bites. No one came to speak with me but I had a problem. When Senorita Man Hands put my braces on (check out post on 10/6) last Monday she left this really cool blister on my gums and on the inside of my bottom lip. It finally started to heal, but had a nasty looking piece of skin chillin on top of it. Before I left work to go home I went to brush my teeth. I looked in the mirror at my battle wound.

The piece of skin was missing :FeelSick:

GROSS!!! I swallowed it!!! Or so I thought. Then I rinsed my mouth again and there it was stuck under my wire. That is absolutely disgusting was my first thought. So I kept rinsing until the piece of skin discconnected itself from my mouth all together.

Object of the story: Braces ruin perfectly healthy relationships such as the one food and I shared

Love it.

The first day I ate with braces my teeth I looked like i needed a bib and a highchair. Food was all over my chin and shirt. None of it actually went down my throat. I admit, steak and potatoes was a little ambitious for someone whose teeth were no longer meeting but thought i was beating the system by living my normal life. I didnt want the braces to win.

Now like to eat in private with my dog. He taught me some great technique. sometimes i even throw in a growl for effect. Dining with my pooch, i can smack loudly, bite into my sushi, gargle with my drink and display other caveman like behaviors.

Food really taste better when no one is watching....
